First score of the new season :D Played 2 games of each table. I am rusty as hell, I remember being able to hit ramps and targets with ease, now I keep missing everything I try, urgh.

Haven't played this in ages. Yeah, the ball physics isn't perfect, but it was the most amazing physics at that time and IMO it works well enough. And the table design is just freaking awesome. They are based on older, simpler Pinball tables, yet it was the most advanced pinball design we had in a pinball videogame at that time too. And the table design still works incredibly well to be quite honest. The game is a blast to play.

Question about the rules here since you can enter as many times as you like. Will the best score on a table be transferred to the next try or is it always 'one go'?

Simplified example.

First attempt:
Week 1, Table 1, 3 points
Week 1, Table 2, 1 point

Second attempt:
Week 2, Table 1, 1 point
Week 2, Table 2, 3 points

Should I post my second attempt as a total of 6 points (in other words: best score stays) or a total of 4 points since this could be seen as some sort of 'save state'?

Have fun and good luck all! :)

john4p 14 January 2018 10:40

^ Absolute best score! So 6 points in your example.

Yeah I may have exaggerated a bit about the physics in the voting thread. They are still impressive today (the ball is bit light-weight though compared to real pinball).
Blast to play indeed, timeless classic.

Clear!

Does someone have a disk 2 without high scores and if so, can he zone it?

There's actually a way to edit the scores, but my skills aren't good enough to handle hex editors.

I have a minor problem here. I'm playing on an A600.. quit key does not work for me on the whdload slave... strangely the first time I played, it saved the highscore, now it's not saving any scores at all.

So I also would welcome a disk 2 without high scores :D

You can reset hi-score in WHDLoad version. There are 2 files: HISC and HI00. Both have 208 bytes. One is the default hiscore table with TSL values, one is your lastest high-scores table. If you delete HI00 and clone HISC under HI00 filename, you will reset your hiscore table.

Anyway - this shouldn't depend on WHDLoad quit key. In Pinball Dreams Hi-score should be saved if you close the table properly ( = Esc key for quit table and Y as a confirmation).

^ Thanks for the info!

Yes, I remember playing from floppy you just had to quit the table to save hiscore. Is not working here. I quit the tabel, turn off the computer, turn on again and the hi-scores aren't there (Just the first score I made).

I'll reset the hi-score table to see if it helps.

Thought I'd get a quick go in at every table so I have something to post (and it really was quick). From now on I'll invest some time going through each individual table to try and come across as vaguely competent.

Yeh, the physics aren't actually as seamless as perhaps I remembered either. I'm tempted to bot up Pinball Illusions and Fantasies just to see how different it is/isn't.

Blast to play though, agreed.

This! Same here. I dont seem to be able to score 10M, never mind 100M. :shocked

Shatterhand 17 January 2018 02:25

One thing I remember being able to do on Nightmare table was getting midnight consistently, to the point where I could reach Midnight again just by hitting the 5 million bonus.

Now? Shit, I can barely hit the ramps twice in a row, let alone keep hitting them without ever missing when I want to.

BTW I played a little bit after those scores, only beat Steel Wheel and just for a little, made around 51 million but didn't upload the photo anywhere... I'm letting you guys know so no one complains I am hiding scores or something :D But I'd prefer to upload pics when I get better scores on all tables :D

^Still quite good start considering it's a new game for you. How do you like the Steel Wheel, Beat Box and Nightmare tables?

I think Pinball Fantasies OCS has the same ball physics as Pinball Dreams, but for Pinball Fantasies AGA they used the A1200's additional CPU power to further improve the physics. Thus the ball behaves differently in Pinball Fantasies OCS and AGA.

Really? I never noticed that, completely new information for me. I must try.

I think it's just beginner's luck!
The tables are much better, the graphics are pretty and the soundtracks are excellent; not a bad game ;)
