A500 rev 5 green screen
Hello all,
I'm trying to resurrect my A500 rev 5 with the infamous green screen syndrome at power on (and the power led blinking 11 times). This is the DiagROM serial port dump: https://pastebin.com/raw/Gznr7QWm Not sure if the "FAILED read" outcome for every single memory address, could mean that all chipmem is bad. I suspect replacing every single ram chip is the only viable option at this point? I've already tried replacing basically every socketed chip (Fat Agnus, CPU, Gary, Denise, Paula) and swapping the CIAs, without any improvement. Any suggestion will be extremely welcomed. Many thanks! |
On the 500 plus, this is usually one of the ram address chips u10 u11 u12 u13 symptoms, from my failing memory. Normally on that they end up green and festy due to battery leak.

Green screen usually RAM fault. See this article for more discussion:

Thank you all for the advice.
In the end, since it wasn't too expensive, I bought from ebay some ram chip of the same type of those in my A500 board, and guess what.. at some point I managed to find the fault ones (U22 and U28 in my case) using the piggyback method. https://imgur.com/a/5vwoU5s I only have to refine the job soldering a couple of sockets, but in the meantime I'm happy my Amiga 500 still works :D |
