Port of IK from the ST

Done porting International Karate :xmas

Needed config is similar as my other game ports. Someone knowing well the original version is very welcome to thoroughly test that port.

This one wasn't so easy. It mixed TOS accesses (and many !) with absolute addressing (loading its data right at absolute addresses, yuck).
Having a few samples played on top of the regular YM2149 stuff didn't help either.
But, hey, now it's done. Another one bites the dust heheh :D

Note: If you're a skilled musician and want to show your appreciation for this new port, I have other projects needing your help. Just PM me.

Wow ! Meynaf, you are a star... bringing us all those games we always wanted on Amiga ! :) Whats next ?

utri007 28 March 2013 10:12

I'm curious, what are requirement that you can do Amiga port from Atari version?

There are some atari falcon games that could be nice with accelerated A1200

Retroplay 28 March 2013 10:50

Brilliant work meynaf. :great

Disk version in the zone.

spajdr 28 March 2013 11:07

Great work Meynaf! Thank you very much.

Retro-Nerd 28 March 2013 11:30

Another great conversion. But i think even with 3=slow it's way too fast on an Amiga 1200+ACA 1230@28MHz. Any chance that you can make it a bit slower? :)

Edit: I get a freeze in Demo mode after a few minutes.

john4p 28 March 2013 12:25

IK finally on Amiga. Working great - this is huge. :great

Didn't know this game also has a 2 players vs 1 cpu opponent mode (F4).

Predseda 28 March 2013 12:37

Whats wrong with IK+ Amiga? Is it so different?

s2325 28 March 2013 12:59

Nothing wrong, I tink IK+ is based on IK so it's nice to have both games on Amiga, that's all.

hansel75 28 March 2013 13:02

I just tried this on my 020 A600 and it's working fine, although it's slightly slow and i did have 1 random freeze!

Thanks Meynaf!

IK+ is great, but only has 3-player mode (with either 1 or 2 human-controlled characters).
IK is 1vs1. (With an additional 3-player mode.)

1) Be a skilled 68K programmer.
2) Have good knowledge of the Atari ST's OS and hardware.
3) Have good knowledge of the Amiga's OS and hardware.

This is sadly not a trivial job at all.

Hewitson 28 March 2013 14:52

Rather than porting individual games, would it be possible to create a "universal" ST library capable of converting all library calls/direct hardware calls? Like a Amiga version of Wine (STine?)

s2325 28 March 2013 14:53

Is it even possible?

For the OS this should be possible, Shapeshifter does it for Mac OS. The hardware will require some sort of emulation layer. In the end you'd probably end up with an Atarri ST emulator :(

laffer 28 March 2013 15:41

That's really cool! :o

fryguy 28 March 2013 16:24

w00t!

Baboon 28 March 2013 16:35

CTOJAH 28 March 2013 16:57

All I can say is :
THANK YOU !

P.S. Could You please do the ST to Amiga conversion for these 3 games :
1. Road Runner
2. Slap Fight
3. Hades Nebula

CFou! 28 March 2013 17:13
