Serial Mouse on Amiga - Anyone Succeeded in This?

Hello fellas..

I've read over several guides, including one which says "its not possible" to get a PC serial mouse working as a NORMAL Amiga mouse. I don't just mean using an adaptor and using in workbench, I mean being able to use at all times, including in games as a regular Amiga mouse..

Anyway I got a couple of cheap serial mice, and looking at the PCB I can see some things which the guides mention.. but its unclear as to how to proceed with the mod.. so I was wondering has anyone ACTUALLY got this mod to work correctly?

Here's a couple of high-res pictures of the top and bottom of the (fairly simple!) serial mouse PCB, it has some kind of all-in-one mouse chip in the middle there.

You need to forget about the controller chip and make a circuit similar to the original Amiga mouse in it's place.

Very interesting, thanks for the link, Jope!

I'm sure this will come in handy..

Tell me if you build it..

I bought the parts needed a long time ago, but never got around to soldering the circuit together.

Perhaps if I come across that bag, I'll dig out an old mouse and give it a shot..
