Well known games/game series that are Amiga originals

Would be cool to have a list of well known games that started on the Amiga, but were ported and became popular on other systems.

I can think of a few but I'm sure there are more... from the top of my head -

Worms, probably one of the most famous one.
Cannon Fodder
Another World
Lemmings

These are games a lot of people that never heard of the Amiga know of.

SOTB I, II, III?
Lotus series?

laffer 14 August 2009 23:19

Are those games well known on other machines, though?
Well, I guess, I don't know.

Another game I know is well known -

The Settlers

Ironclaw 14 August 2009 23:27

The Settlers started on the Amiga?

Cool.

Bloodwych 14 August 2009 23:29

Only the Amiga version of Settlers had split screen play didn't it?

But missed time advance. :crying

Still, it never slowed down even though more and more buildings and men appeared on the map, which was a pretty cool game engine design. Plus it made use of more powerful Amigas FTW!

If it was first I'm not sure. :confused

Amiga original game - yes

Nice.

DDNI 14 August 2009 23:33

What about the Ishar series?

alexh 15 August 2009 00:07

The most famous has to be SimCity which spawned an entire industry.

laffer 15 August 2009 00:11

That's not an Amiga original game though, is it? I mean developed originally for the Amiga and then later ported... or at least released for the Amiga first.

alexh 15 August 2009 00:13

It was originally written for the C64 but not originally published/released. The author got an Amiga :)

The Amiga version was the first published, followed shortly by the 68k Apple Mac. All other versions including the C64 and PC are published in subsequent years.

laffer 15 August 2009 00:16

Cool! That's very interesting, I had no idea

alexh 15 August 2009 00:22

The author wrote other commodore games before SimCity and you can instantly recognise them.

Sensible Soccer
Soccer Kid
Super Skidmarks
Shadow Of The Beast
Pinball Illusions

laffer 15 August 2009 02:33

Some of those games aren't very well known outside Amiga circles though, right?

I'd like names of games that were really popular across platforms that started on the Amiga... but I guess there may not be all that many.
