FullPalette settings for Magic Workbench icons
Hi, I am looking for a FullPalette settings file to use Magic Workbench icons without having to run the dreaded MagicWB-daemon.
Any help will be apreciated. |

no need for deamon! colours 0-3 are workbench default, colours 4-7 are used by magic workbench.
colour 5: r123g123b123, colour 6: r175g175b175, colour 7: r170g144b124, colour 8: r255g169b151. after you set these colours in fullpalette you need to lock them to prevent them being overwritten. i attach screenshots of the settings for each of the four colours (4-7) in question. |

I'm wondering about the actual state of Magic Workbench. I recently tried to find it with the key and I couldn't find it. Has it been made public? Where can I find a complete version?

the last "complete" and registered version of magicwb was v2.0r as far i can recall. there was an 2.1 version out there which was incomplete.
as i finally returned to amiga last year, i got my registered version 2.0r of magicwb from keyring: http://www.fatcat.vispa.com/keyring/ |
now i have to push this thread as i'm trying to set magicwb colours on ecs system with only 16 colours.
problem: can't apply these colour values mentioned above having 256+ colours. r/g/b range is 0-15 only. so now i have to convert these values posted above downwards to 16 colours? how exactly to do that? |

I guess the problem honx has is that the values for RGB on ECS are 0-15 and on AGA 0-255. So magicwb colors need to convert, but maybe I'm wrong.

RGB32 color component values are always left aligned stored in the highest bits of a longword. That means for OCS/ECS that the 4 highest bits are used and for AGA the 8 highest bits. So there is nothing that needs to be converted if you use a FullPalette.prefs file from AGA on OCS/ECS.

so which values do i set instead of these three-digit aga values?
only can choose between 0 and 15 each. none of aga values fit. somehow i need to translate nnn values to nn values i can use. in other words: need 2-digit numbers instead of 3-digit numbers. for example 123 = ?? (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14 or 15). that's the problem i'm facing: dark grey color: rgb 123 = ?? light grey color: rgb 175 = ?? brownish color: r 170 = ?? g 144 = ?? b 124 = ?? pastel color: r 255 = ?? g 169 = ?? b 151 = ?? |
Try FullPalette like PeterK suggested. Don't set the color values manually.

i have fullpalette installed, but i there aren't any predefined prefs...

On an 8 color screen you don't need FullPalette at all. You can use the MWB tool ClickForColors, then call Prefs/Palette and save the 8 color palette.
On a 16 color screen I would recommend to use one of my 16 color FullPalette.prefs files which are both modified versions of Rebel's palette. They are included in my Aminet package under ThirdParty/FullPalette, but instead of having perfect MWB colors they have a good balanced 16 color palette for color icons and other images. |
thx, didn't wont to use mwb tools as i don't have magicwb installed at all. just wanted to fix these colours.
if i search for your fullpalette.prefs on aminet, nothing seems to be found: "Found 0 matching package(s):" also can't find any drawer called thirdparty on aminet. are there different mirrors with different contents? |
