REQ: Settlers on CD32?
Does anyone know if there is a conversion of Settlers for the CD32?
There seems to be a lack of strategy games converted to CD32, any reason for this? Would love to see the likes of Settlers, Megalomania & Populous etc. Great someone did Dune II though, think that was the first game i ever completed. |
Mega Lo Mania was part of:
SENSIBLE SOFTWARE : THE COMPLETE AMIGA WORKS CD32 = 250 MB (262,975,488 bytes) Total = 167 MB (176,066,560 bytes) Waves = 81.0 MB (85,012,480 bytes) Disc ISO |
oh yes of course I do have that as it goes, just every time i load the disk up i try and play Wizkid (as im desperate to play it again) and it crashes

Isn't there a way around that now? I thought someone had developed a mouse drivers for the joypad?
|
I can't imagine playing Settlers with a joypad :shocked

I put together a quick version for CD32 owners who own a mouse, of course to save you will need a hdd though, i put it in the zone. Oh you need the manual on HOL for the protection (whdload version goes black even with plenty of fastram)

Cheers AmgaJay, sadly I only have a stock cd32 with fav expansion.

wow thanks Amiga Jay!

I've just had a look at the Settlers myself since I'm planning to add it to my two player compilation. I did some work on the executable to remove copy protection (followed the instructions on http://aminet.net/package/game/patch/AmigaPtchListA) and made it so you can play any of the 30 levels without entering the password on keyboard.
If it's any interest, I've uploaded an ISO to the zone based on that version (basically just AmigaJay's previous release with that one executable changed). You'll still need a mouse to play though. |
I had bit of a virus scare recently, so I did a wider check of my hard drive with VirusZ and found that, in the Settlers project, these two files were infected with Ebola.
C/AmigaGuide C/Multiview This is in the ISOs of both of the files on the server - TheZone/files/SettlersCD32 [The Settlers for CD32, needs a mouse and hdd to save.].iso /TheZone/files/SettlersCD32Test.zip The infection won't harm a real CD32 of course, and neither file is accessed by the Startup-Sequence or game. But Ebola is a nasty piece of work that will infect everything it can if it's loaded into memory. I'm not sure where the infection could have come from originally, perhaps there's a copy of Settlers in TOSEC or the like that's infected? |
