ScummVM Sound missing.

Hi just installed ScummVM 030 AGA on my A1200. I installed the AHI package.
It really works, except the sound.
(S)he claims that the openpci.library version 1 couldn´t be opened.
I think version 2 is installed . Is that the simple cause of the missing sound ?
By the way, I don´t have any Soundcard.

Greets and thanks for the help.
Frank

Hiya,

No AHI is a bit of a bitch. You need to have a look at what it has installed by default. It sticks in all the devices because it doesn't know what you actually have on your system.

Go into System\Devs\AHI and delete everything apart from:
  • device.audio
  • paula.audio

Then go to System\Devs\AudioModes and delete everything apart from:
  • DEVICE
  • PAULA

You can then test that everything is setup correctly by running the AHI prefs, if you see any error messages when you start it up (eg 'openpci.library version 1 couldn´t be opened') then it's still stuffed, otherwise it's all good.

Change the ScummVM AGA tooltype and set 'AUTO_SELECT_AUDIO' to FALSE to display an audio AHI Requestor.

Grab the latest version of ScummVM AGA from the Zone BTW, it's better than the one on AmiNet.

Is it still possible to get the latest version of ScummVM AGA? I joined "The Zone!" group and searched amongst the uploaded files but I cannot find ScummVM...

NovaCoder 26 January 2015 09:54

It's on AmiNet ;)

Aah, I got that one. For some reason it does not work for me. I checked the requirements and it should be working. When I start ScummVM, the screen goes multi-colored and then the Amiga hangs. I was thinking there is a different one that does not do that...

Retrofan 26 January 2015 13:43

Eva are you using the CyberbugFixAga patch? CWB39 for example? It causes something similar if you don't disable it.

Hello! No, it's just an A1200 with an 030. AmiTCP switched off to avoid interrupts. I have AHI installed (and working). ScummVM starts fine with a grey screen and then after a second or so the screen is completely garbled. I am not sure if the Amiga crashes as well because I cannot see anything except pixel goo.

Very strange, if your v4.18 of AHI is set up correctly (see above for a guide) then it must be a patch as Retrofan suggested.

Try it with a 'clean' OS boot (or just disable all of your patches).

I just use 3.9 + BB1, BB2 and parts of BB3 + a couple of other well known patches. Basically the more patches you run, then the more chance you'll have some issues.

Retrofan 27 January 2015 01:48

Eva if you solve it, please tell -if you find- the cause. I would like to find a way to avoid that garbled screen with Scummvm. Yours is the same screen Cyberbugfix produces.

What screen mode do you use?

I use: PAL: High Res Laced @ 640x512 with 16 Colors.

I had MagicTV enabled to reduce the flicker - since I cannot find any better, but I disabled it and I still have the same issue.

I am going to try a patch-free run in a moment as suggested by NovaCoder...

eva 27 January 2015 02:10

Found yer bug! :-) ScummVM apparently conflicts with FBlit

eva 27 January 2015 02:21

I also have disabled all the FBlit patches in the FBlit_GUI utility except:
  • FBlitBitMap
  • FBlitTemplate

because those make my Workbench go wonko if they are not enabled and then started ScummVM - I get the same corruption.

Cool, great find :)

The problem with coding for the Amiga is that everyone uses slightly different patches and lots.

Mine works fine with Fblit BTW.

Ouch! Then it is not Fblit after all? I have disabled all the patches and just tried with and without Fblit and it seems the only one to be having issues. Is there something else I can check? Perhaps a different version of Fblit? I have used the Aminet one.

I use FBlit from AmiNet without any special config.

It could even be another patch that causes a problem when used in combination with Fblit (that's another reason to keep patches to a minimum).

eva 27 January 2015 05:48

Ok, I have widened the search a bit and noticed that the combo:

- FBlit
- SystemPatch (started after FBlit in user-startup as C:SystemPatch NT Q -LoadSeg NoUtil)

give that messed screen effect. After I comment out SystemPatch but leave FBlit enabled, ScummVM loads up properly. :-)

NovaCoder 27 January 2015 06:01

Well done!

I never use Systempatch

Fblit is solid though

Thanks! :D I guess it is time to remove all the installed patches.

My Amiga is so efficient now that it fails to run programs properly.

Off with the patches...
