Need help with cybervision 64/3d
I have an A3000 with a an 040/40 cyberstorm accelerator in it, and am using the updated 68040.libraries from Blizzard.
I recently got a Cybervision and it is giving me fits. I downloaded the installer and tools from a1k.org, and ran them from floppy with no issues encountered during install. The Cybervision monitor file is listed in my devs:monitor directory, but, when I go to my prefs and open screenmode, nothing is listed there for cybervision modes, only those for the default NTSC monitor. If I run CGXMode, it lists the modes for the card, but, when I go to test one of them, it says it "cannot open the test screen" or, if I try to save one of the modes, it says "cannot save file." Upon booting the computer, the cybergraphx splash screen loads up, but then, nothing else. The amiga native graphics display fine on my other screen plugged directly into amiga's VGA port. I did a fresh install of 3.1, and am still getting this issue. Any help would be appreciated greatly. |
I had the "cannot open the test screen" thing recently. Reinstalled CGFX with all the patches and it went away.

You mean CyberGraphX V3 or CyberVision64 3D Install from a1k.org?
|
Zipper, I meant the CV643D install. I don't have a CDROM drive on this computer, so, the CyberGrafx V3/V4 stuff there cannot be used because they're too large to fit onto floppy disk and use.
|
Unpack cgxV3 to HD and install from there? It's v41.22 vs 41.9 so much newer and might work better. Or try Picasso96.
|
Use CGX4 or Picasso96 (Picasso is easiest to setup)
|
Will give both a try.

I went to A1K and downloaded all three RC of cybervision 4. I transferred via floppy to the hard disk and clicked on the "cgx4_update" icon, and it asked me to insert a disk (can't remember the name)" so, unpacking to the HD doesn't work. I did an assign for the disk name it was asking for, and, ran it again, only to have the program give me the error "Unable to open your tool 'Cybergraphx_4:Installer'"
What to do now? None of the three RC versions have a file in them called Cgx4_install in the archive...just cgx4_update. |
You need the Ggx4 CD which is still commercial afaik.
|
CGX4 came with the Cybervision 64/3D. Do you have a copy Kirk?
|
I have no problem with purchasing it, but it isn't available on any of the commercial sites I have checked. No developer webpage either, other than a download link for the RC6. Does anyone have a means to contact the author directly to purchase it?

Install Picasso 96 and be done with it. It's faster.

I went and looked in the startup-sequence and user-startup files for any reference to the cybergraphx drivers, and, there are none, but, something is clearly copying information into my RAM disk at every boot, as there are cybergraphx files in the ENV directory in RAM:. |
You do know you have to bind the card to the software you create the screen modes with right?
|
All you have to do is remove the monitor driver to disable the software

Yes sir. I opened the Picasso configuration in the Prefs drawer, bound the card, was informed there were a bunch of incompatible modes, and let the software disable those. I then pressed the "test" button for 1024x768 in 8 bit, and the screen would only go dark until I hit escape to cancel the test. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
