[REQ] Crack for Colossus Chess X SPS #1510

Can't find a crack for this, none of the parameter copiers like Maverick/Freecopy or Lockpick has it listed!

Seems the SPS version is different to the BS1/QTX cracks as the exe is a different size, so not sure what the difference actually is other than it's not cracked :)

I can use the manual off HOL but if anyone has a crack or would make a crack that would be cool :great!

ADF in the Zone!

Er, zoned?

BarryB 29 April 2020 19:34

How appropriate, SCX cracking CCX, works a treat :great

Muchas Gracias!

Whats's wrong with this BarryB? That's the file I use:
Colossus Chess X (1989)(CDS)(M5)[cr QTX].adf

You might want to read his first post again ;)

I did, he's saying the BS1/QTX versions have a different size game exe.... so what?

Unless you guys are saying the BS1/QTX cracks are a pre-release or something?

Therefore it is reasonable to assume that it is a revised version with bug fixes and the like.

Based on the name of the file in the zone : Colossus Chess X (1989)(CDS)(M5)[cr+f ross].zip
-> thanks "ross" ;)

You caught me :)
Actually the first crack for #1510 is from Galahad but I'm so blind I haven't even noticed it...
Well, mine contain a fix for processor >000, that probably no one will ever use considering how "good" the game is :D

In fact it's not the crack the point of my release, but the inclusion of a little program for real time support for those stupid 68000 programs that use the
move sr,<ea>
instruction(s) and this is one of those.

Fix010+ Code:
Code:

@DamienD: The difference is the ORIGINAL.BOOK and WORKING.BOOK are bigger files on the SPS #1510 release and it also has 2 extra files M1024K and M512K that the main executable references, but no idea what they do other than the program adapts to the amount of memory you have?

@ross: Never tested it on a faster CPU, nice catch to fix it for 680x0 CPU's! Will have to try your 'fix' on some progs that don't like the A1200 :great!

BarryB 18 May 2020 17:46

Turns out the M1024K and M512K are the music files (in an executable) for ingame music, selected from the Features > Sound > Music menu! So looks to be samples for 512k and 1mb machines.

The QTX/BS1 release appear to have the samples in the main COLOSSUS executable, not external, so that's why it's bigger!

Also noticed some of the file/folder dates on the SPS version say 08 Dec 87 and on the QTX/BS1 they say 09 Dec 87!

Hello people,
I have just updated the Colossus set in TOSEC and found a so-called AGA version of the game.
The executable is almost identical to the IPF version but it also contains Hunk Debug.
The "adverts/PROGINFO.PC1" is bigger and the disk is in FFS.
These are the rare differences found, an idea about its origin (and its interest)?
