Cdtv + Hdd
Hi,
My question is if it's possible to have an internal IDE interface like AdIDE or similar in a CDTV? I mean so much expansions which was made for the A500 can be used, but if so, then you aren't able to put back the lid of the macine anymore. Anyone tried to do something like this with a CDTV at all...? Thanks, Reynolds |
I guess you know that you can make things that plug in under the 68000 work (which they will), but you're more after knowing if they physically will fit and allow the CDTV to be reassembled?

Yeah, but because the mobo in the CDTV is on the top, the space for any hw mounted onto sockets is too weak. dunno if there's any possibility to have a HDD but wanna try, what if...? If a ribbon cable goes under the mobo where the HD can be fixed, now that's what I would like to have.

You CAN use the IDE68k interface or a SCSI with a SCSI->IDE interface adapter.
There was rumour of the IDE68k author updating his design for CF cards and adding RAM. If he did then I'd get one for my CDTV |
From the creator's site:
"There maybe some boards for sale during late september. I have the PCBs, but it it may need some debugging (hdl-code or elsewhere.) It will have a CompactFlash connector as well as the IDE connector. The CF-card runs in "true IDE mode" on the IDE bus as a master or slave IDE drive." Sounds good to me! :agree PZ. |
