is there a classic amiga irc client similar to mIRC???

OK, I admit it, I am a spoilled pc-user... is there an irc client on the amiga which is somewhat similar to mIRC??? don't mind if I have to reg it :spin

aslo, how on earth can I enable socks server on os3.9+genesis so irc clients work??? never did that succesfully... :(

The answer is Amirc

However since the license key is no longer comercialy available & VAPOURWARE owners have not been answering e-mail or other enquiries then sadly your left only with option of buying or "borrowing" someone elses keyfile :sad

Unless some enlightened member has miraculously found an alternative that is ???

keropi 01 June 2006 11:19

oh.... too bad... anyone willing to help here?

MrZammler 01 June 2006 12:48

You could also check out Wookiechat.

Not as good as amirc, but gets the job done quite nicelly and it's freeware.

kriz 01 June 2006 15:04

I use BlackIRC , freeware but not made anymore .. I miss some feautures like time stamp, but have used it very stable the last months :)

Offtopic: EFnet #Amigano , is the place to be :)

keropi 01 June 2006 16:04

any chance someone to zone a "good" amirc version?

woody57 01 June 2006 16:10

Currently it would NOT be officialy adviseable for this site to "ZONE" a keyfiled copy of Amirc.

keropi 01 June 2006 16:12

oooppssss, my bad

@Woody
I'm a great believer in registering Amiga software, even if the authors are no longer developing it but are still accepting payment. However, it's the same dilemma that people who wanted to register Miami were in until the Amiga Keyring decided to host the keyfiles (and after repeated requests were fulfilled on EAB). Great pity since the free IRC clients available aren't a patch on AmIRC.

woody57 01 June 2006 17:15

As you rightly point out DrBong the Amiga Keyring Site is currently filling the need over the programmes you mention.

And since Lopos2000 & myself run that site this is the reason we have spent six months trying to track not just AmIRC but OTHER Vapourware software current registration owners :agree

Obviously NONE of these files could legimately be hosted by RCK's abime.net as that is policey

BUT DO NOT BE SUPRISED if the Amiga Keyring site annouces some updates SOON ;)

That's strange.....I haven't received any PMs from either of you ;)

kriz 20 April 2007 00:19

;)

Support it.

RetroMan 20 April 2007 01:03

Yes, AMIrc is really outdated !

I use Wookie on all my Systems (OS4, 68k, PPC Classic) and it´s great :)
