EBAY AU has 1 Mac mini G4 up for auction, already over $250! Better luck next time!! :banghead |
Yes the old PPC Macs still sell for £200+:shocked
|
And then you have to pay £100+ for MorphOS.
|
So MorphOS runs on the MacMini, eh?
Hmmm. |
Still half the price of the Sam440ep+OS4 ;) And a lot faster...
Here in Finland there seems to be about 1-3 Minis selling all the time in our eBay equivalent. Prices have been between 150-250e usually. |

I thought I'd have more time to save up for a Mac Mini, but they go and release MorphOS for it already!
You guys have no idea how much I've been aching to get my hands on MorphOS, it's the most beautiful, exotic OS on the planet. :) |
I tried it out last night. It's really, really, good. I'm just not convinced that it's £141 worth of good. Also, the non transferrable license key puts me off. (My mini's a few years old now, so what if it packs in? That would be £141 down the can.)
Anyway, I'll continue to try out the demo version and see what I make of it once the novelty wears off and I get used to it. |
It is about £155 including the current 1.06 exchange rate and currency exchange fees.
They should halve the price before someone, unwilling to pay that much, cracks it. Surely 2x the sales at half price would be better because then you'd have 2x the users. Not sure what is going on, either the developers are money grabbing worms who want to steal as much money as they can from users (which I find it difficult to believe) or someone who is like that has their fingers in the pie and the developers are unable to do anything about it. Either way I'm gonna wait until it is much cheaper. |
How many people think about the cost of Windows when building a PC;)
I agree its expensive. |
Yep too expensive for me to try and I don't like the fact that it runs on 'dead' HW but it's still very impressive so kudos to the team involved.

It is without a doubt the cheapest, most powerful, PPC computer there is. Excluding consoles you cannot really buy an 'alive' PPC system (forget the SAM440 it is a bad JOKE!) for MorphOS to run on. |

Hmmm, an Amiga-like OS available for 'real' hardware? Whatever next?
I'm very tempted to go buy a MacMini just to try... BUT (you knew one was coming) Way too much money for the install. (1/2 the price would be MUCH more tempting) The real deal-breaker for me is that non-transferable licence... ...I've been burned before by software that requires a key for specific hardware - the moment you upgrade / have to replace a dead box you're stuffed. The last time I suffered such a setup I got 'licence revoked' messages just for changing IP settings (DCHP). I'm not saying the MorphOS version would be so picky but... Never Again! |
