Possible Bug in 0.8.25

Hi everyone.

I've got a weird problem in WinUAE 0.8.25.

When emulating 68020/68020+fpu/68040 (haven't tried others) with JIT, if I have sound turned off (whether it is emulated or not) the emulation is fine.
But if I have sound turned on (either just on, or %100 accurate), I get severe lag in WinUAE.

For example, in Alien Breed 3D 2, playing with sound, the game always waits a second or so before it recognises my key inputs. Consequently, I could press the turn left key, and my on-screen character will turn left for a second longer than I held the key down for.

With sounds turned off, the response is instant.

Has anyone else seen this?
Does anyone have any tips for solving it?

I have updated my sound card drivers, by the way.

Thanks for any ideas.

Toni - thanks for all the fantastic work you've put into WinUAE. It's a really magnificent effort.

You didn't tell if you tried changing sound settings, or your sound card model, Windows version etc..

I am probably repeating myself again but JIT requires much better timer/sound accuracy than non-JIT mode. Sound in JIT-mode could be improved but unfortunately it just works fine here..

Does it get better if you increase buffer? Adjust latency setting? Lower frequency?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll give them a go and see what happens.

I have the same problem.

Since upgrading, if I enable JIT the sound just goes completely to hell. It used to work fine and things just ran smoother, but now the sound just goes mad.

Same settings as I used to use, and I have also tried changing all the settings too, nothing helped.

I've had a go at all the suggestions, but to no avail.

My problem isn't the sound itself. The sound seems fine, and sounds like it has on previous versions of WinUAE.

Its just that there is bizarre lag between keyboard input and on-screen action (note that the actual emulation speed is still the same regardless of this problem) when the sound is turned on. This ranges from no lag to 2 seconds of lag (or so), and it fluctuates wildly from moment to moment.

I'm sure WinUAE didn't have this problem before (at least up to 0.8.23).

I'm running Windows XP Professional SP1, on a laptop with "SoundMax integrated digital audio". The laptop itself is a P4 1.6, with a gig of RAM, and a Radeon mobility 9000 with 32MB.

Other software (including games and emulators) don't have problems like this, or with sound in general. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in WinUAE?

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Do you notice any change if you use "-nordtsc" command-line parameter?. (winuae.exe -nordtsc)

Unfortunately it didn't make a difference. :(
