Steam Account Stolen

Hung over and half asleep this morning I stupidly followed a link sent by a friend and lost my account.

Fortunately never had to do it, but read somewhere this might help: https://help.steampowered.com/pl/wiz...2F%3Fredir%3D0

And this is how you can provide proof you're the owner: https://steamcommunity.com/linkfilte...2268-EAFZ-9762

Very nice info thanks Shoonz :great

EDIT: and saved to my cheatsheet just in case.

EDIT2: I also noticed a sign in from STEAM link, I bet this is the issue, hence why I left and thought this was a scamming site.

Was a link for a game raffle site. When you use the login via steam and then enter your authentication code it changes the password and removes the authenticator.

Hopefully the password change and authenticator removal should trigger a 14 day cool down so I don't loose any of my inventory. Will be interesting to see if my 35c is still in there when I get it back.

Got it, sorry to hear about this and good luck in getting it back.

I hope that other Steam Friend isn't the cause of this and was duped as well.

haps 11 February 2019 07:58

Yeah, he got duped. A whole shitload of people got caught by it.

I'll probably get banned from steamgifts now because some little turd made an antagonistic post calling everyone that got hit by it stupid and it really pissed me off, so I told him he was a 'holier than thou c**t'. Oh, well I'll just have to go through humble and fanatical and post any spare keys I have left here instead of on there. :P

BTW, the multiple PM's I got said:

take the game you want!
spindatgamex.com
Glad I'm always offline so didn't even notice it ;)

The site appears to be down now, but just to be sure you might want to report it everywhere you can.

EDIT: Also read on SteamGifts there's a sister site too called

Did't use steam for a week and look what happens... missed all fun..

Hope you get your account soon haps.

jmmijo 11 February 2019 19:04

Hopefully there will be no more drunken mis-adventures with your computer in the future as well ;)

haps 11 February 2019 21:58

Well I haven't been banned so the mods must have thought my foul mouthed tirade was justified. :D

Same as what I got. Normally I ignore crap like that, I feel like a right wally. :(

What really yanks my chain is the fact that steams security is not smart enough to realize that something is wrong when an account that has always connected from Australia suddenly changes the password and removes the authenticator via a connection from Russia and automatically locks it.

The name and avatar have changed but it seems my inventory is still intact, so looks like I managed to self-lock the account in time, now I just have to wait.

All is good. Got my account back.

Imbecile support recommends I use an authenticator to protect my account. o_O

At least they had the common sense to stop all trades and refunds that where initiated.

I only have 1 friend now for some reason. Nobody likes me any more. :(

Pretty sure I found the Russian clown behind it as well. The goose left a message on my account saying: "The most awesome Steam account that ever existed :)".

So i just got another invite from you, is this the *REAL* you or the russian dude ?

haps 12 February 2019 13:52

It be me. :D

Same goes for Shoon and Anoobis.

Have sent freind requests out only to people I actually know from places like IRL, EAB and my old Wolfenstein clan, and rejected or questioned a bunch of requests I received while it was hijacked. Going to be more careful from now on, SG can go root a boot seeing as that is where this whole drama originated from.

Had a great laugh this afternoon seeing as I didn't get banned from SG. One bloke even justified my rather irate post better than I could yesterday when I was drunk and angry and a few other posts agreed in principle with what I ineloquently tried to say:

For that matter, what is the benefit of using advanced words when the level of nuance required to get the message across is achieved without them?
Wish I could shout the bloke a pint.
