EAB Multi Platform League - Game Vote (Special Round 1)

Voting starts now (19.07.2009) and will end next Saturday (25.07.2009) :

- Vote for five games.
- Your first choice gets 5 points, second 4 pts, third 3 pts, fourth 2 pts, fifth 1 pt.
- Remember to choose games suitable for competition play. If you don't, then you will get the treat of a PM from me, asking you to change your vote. If you still don't change it your vote will be discounted. If you aren't sure feel free to ask.
- If you vote for games that don't have a scoring system (e.g. racing games), post which game mode to play and how to measure the score. If you don't do that your whole vote is invalid.
- Edited votes will be discounted (unless you are told to edit it, and even then you can only edit the game(s) that aren't suitable) - so think before you post. Also you cannot vote for games that have already been played.

(Courtesy of Graham ;))

In this special round you can vote for any game on any platform that is not in the rotation. These are the platforms in the rotation :

C64
MAME
MD
NeoGeo
PC Engine
SNES

Normal voting rules apply, but we will play the top two voted games.
I hope at least two people will vote for the same game ;)

Gimme all your votes :D

Hmm, interesting... ;) Guess that's okay, but it still would be nice if you could name the game mode and stuff.

Biscuit 20 July 2009 02:20

There is only champ points to race for. Do it on either Medium or Hard courses.

You did say any platform. ;)

Yes I did :D
Okay, think we'll go for Medium then since we play two games at once. That is if it gets voted of course.

Graham Humphrey 20 July 2009 07:47

But isn't the whole point of this compo to play games on any format except the Amiga?

Yes indeed it is ;) Haven't put that in the first post this time and am just curious how many jokers like Biscuit are out there :D Somehow I hope that people will vote for non Amiga games and next time there will of course be a 'no Amiga games' part in the opener :agree

john4p 20 July 2009 10:29

1. Video Meanies (Commodore Plus/4)
2. Colin McRae Rally (Sony Playstation)
3. Castlevania III - Dracula's Curse (Nintendo Entertainment System)
4. Tetris (Nintendo GameBoy)
5. Turrican (ZX Spectrum)

Btw., what's the difference between "Amstrad CPC" and "ZX Spectrum"?

Two totally different machines? ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX_Spectrum
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amstrad_CPC
Well both aren't too good IMHO. Are you sure you want to play Turrican on the Speccy? :p

john4p 20 July 2009 12:39

Thanks. So the Spectrum had a Z80-CPU @3.5MHz and the Amstrad CPC a Z80A-CPU @4MHz.
Seems like the Amstrad CPC is similar to the Spectrum - only better, right?

Hmm...just watched the vid. Maybe I don't really need to play the Speccy-version after all... ;)

Hmm, better... guess it's 'better' in the same way that it's better to lose only one finger and not the whole hand :p But yes the CPU is slightly better ;)

lilalurl 25 July 2009 15:39

:crying No Tetris please...
Tempted to join john4p for another round of Castlevania, but not sure the others would enjoy it.
  1. Bumpy (Atari St, the best version of the game to my knowledge)
  2. Skweek (Atari St, would prefer the amiga version but this would be good enough)
  3. Oxyd (Atari St, very good action puzzle game)
  4. Oblido (plus/4, strategic vote initially but after reading a bit about it looks very interesting + never tried to emulate the C16)
  5. Castlevania III - Dracula's Curse (Nintendo Entertainment System, just in case somebody wants to have another go at a Castlevania game)

:shocked I should have paid attention to the first post, I had not seen "but we will play the top two voted games"

TCD 25 July 2009 18:38

Yes, special rounds are fun :spin
I really hope we get another vote in today... :(

Shoonay 25 July 2009 19:35

Too lazy to check the game's meself so I just copied some games I'd like to see from the previous votes ;)

1. Lifeforce (NES)
2. Tempest 2k (Jag)
3. Rygar (Lynx)
4. Gyruss (NES)
5. Castlevania 3 (SNES)

TCD 25 July 2009 19:39

Cheers Shoonay :great

TCD 26 July 2009 08:57

Okay, here's the result for the first Special Round :

Code:

Tempest 2000 (Jaguar) 9 (2 votes)
Lifeforce (NES)      8 (2 votes)

Oblido (Plus/4)      7 (2 votes)
Gyruss (NES)          6 (3 votes)
Tetris (GameBoy)      6 (2 votes)

So it will be Tempest 2000 (yay!) and Lifeforce (no idea yet ;)) for the special round. Gimme a couple of minutes for the new threads (not that anyone is awake anyway :p).
