Next game to port?

So hypothetically.... if I was to port another game to the Amiga after Rygar, what would you like to see?

DamienD 19 August 2019 23:03

Fixed your poll and added "Wonder Boy"; as mentioned here :p

...this is a really difficult choice for me; as "Shinobi" is my absolute favourite arcade game of all time; as mentioned in this thread: Shinobi Boss Level 5

Plus the Amiga version is sooooo awful :banghead :banghead :banghead

You're a star!

DamienD 19 August 2019 23:11

The problem is, from your poll all these would be awesome:
  • Shinobi
  • Wonder Boy
  • Rastan
  • Raiden
  • Raiden II
  • Nemesis / Gradius
  • Final Fight
  • Double Dragon
...but you're only one man and it would 10+ years to do them all :lol

Which one would you take to the Desert Island then?

DamienD 19 August 2019 23:16

If you put it that way then you know my answer, it absolutely has to be Shinobi!!!

MartinW 19 August 2019 23:16

It's missing RallyX - or am I showing my age? :D

lmimmfn 19 August 2019 23:20

Couldn't help myself and voted Dragon Ninja :)
The others seem quite doable except Final Fight, I think that would be quite tough to have 100% arcade perfect without compromises but that would probably make it the most challenging :)

Gzegzolka 19 August 2019 23:21

It would be totally awesome to have Amiga port of Psycho Soldier Athena.

You might be surprised.

do something restful after Rygar: Pacman. But make sure to use original A.I. for the ghosts, or it won't work.

Probably the most difficult game of the lot.

It's probably one of those games I would have to read historical books on.

Its a surprise I would very much like :) even when I had my 1200 I still longed for a SNES just to play FF, it looked amazing in C&VG when it was reviewed but since then I've discovered it's missing 2 of the characters etc.

I've never played Gauntlet on the Amiga( reaching level 117 on the rather excellent Amstrad CPC version burnt me out on it). I take it its an ST port with crap scrolling?

Yes, there is no "real" Gauntlet on the Amiga.

meynaf ported the game from the Atari ST version; see this HOL entry: Gauntlet

...it's not too bad though.

DamienD 19 August 2019 23:45

Hey Graeme,

Should I split these entries into 5 individual ones?
  • Final Fight or Double Dragon (Arcade)
  • Raiden I/II (Arcade) or Axelay (SNES)
i.e:
  • Axelay (SNES)
  • Double Dragon (Arcade)
  • Final Fight (Arcade)
  • Raiden (Arcade)
  • Raiden II (Arcade)

Wow... I followed that link and the cost of Gauntlet was £25 in 1990!

That in todays money is over £50...

I remember 1990 like it was yesterday. I need another holiday.

Go for it mate... it's just a bit of fun for now.

Shatterhand 19 August 2019 23:53

I voted for None - Do you own game.

I'd rather see new original content than ports....

With this being said..... that discussion about the ED-209 robot from Axelay was REALLY because you were thinking about porting Axelay to Amiga? I was going to ask you if thats what you had in mind, but then I thought you weren't crazy enough :D

Any of those games would have an A1200 020 14mz 2mb as a target machine? If depending upon the game you would aim for an A500 standard setup, this would change my vote. I have no AGA machine, so anything made for OCS/ECS without acellerators is nicer for me :)

Done ;)

Whoever voted previously for "Raiden I/II (Arcade) or Axelay (SNES)"... did you want your vote for:
  • Axelay (SNES)
  • Raiden (Arcade)
  • Raiden II (Arcade)
...at the moment it's registered to "Raiden (Arcade)".

Ahh ok, didn't realise, I'll have to try it out(if I don't get flashbacks to playing it for 6-7 hours solid on the Cpc)
