Whats the best basic compiler for a1200?

back in the day there were programs like amos, blitz basic, shmup ck etc

i tried amiblitz 3 but it just didnt get past the opening online update thing.
plus it seemed really bloated.

so whats considered the best by many for casual basic compiling of executables for amiga 1200?

Amiblitz3 is good, it's a really nice interface to work in - but you really need an accelerated machine to get the most out of it, and a larger screen (RTG) is great too.

Saying that, I'm using BlitzBasic 2.1 for the stuff I'm doing at the moment - I'd suggest you start there. Should run just fine on any Amiga, and loads of help and support out there.

For new projects in Basic for a standard A1200, I'd also suggest using Blitz 2.1. The later versions seem to be aimed more at accelerated machines.

What are you coding? For games, Blitz Basic 2.1 is the recomended one as it also supports AGA and is quick.

For Apps I don't know, there is also HiSoft BASIC, but that might be aimed at more profesional software??

Blitz is also great for apps, it's what I'm using to work on Roadie (http://aminet.net/package/comm/net/Roadie)

PureBasic is another modern alternative.
