there are tools which deals with bad cd-rom images.
one I cannot remember, which I was using in the past. :/
there was some advice on "preparing" the surface of the physical cd-rom,
but again, I cannot find that info here on eab, atm :/

maybe it was BlindRead - was on winxp, IIRC :)

#1) it was IsoPuzzle, you are right. :)
use the aspi.dll in the link on that page, so it does work on win7 here.

happymondays 14 February 2018 21:23

OK, thanks, guys. I am going to check these, but first I will have to find the CDs. This will most probably happen sometime next week, because this week's crowded for me. Until then I have the fileslists for the CDs somewhere here on my notebook, I might zone them sometime tonight.

happymondays 14 February 2018 23:38

Zoned, it is in AmigaGuide format. I guess I should have almost all (or maybe all) the CDs (27, I don't know if there is more in this series or not, that is surely the last one I had back then) somewhere around here, except for the music and ones also listed. When I last wanted to make an image of the CDs a couple of years ago, it was virtually impossible (I tried some bad CD reader software then, but not the ones you recommended), although I managed to copy almost all the files form the ones I tried, so if there is something you are particularly interested in, it might be easier to get a certain file or batch of files than a complete image.

emufan 14 February 2018 23:52

I cannot guaranty IsoPuzzle will work. It did once for me, but may fail with other CDs.
Since you could rescue some files from the bad image, there might be
a tiny chance, IsoPuzzle will get the remaining bits. maybe :)
btw. put the winaspi32.dll in the same folder together with IsoPuzzle.exe.

it was said , one may try to polish the cdrom surface with toothpaste,
or a special cdrom cleaner set, to get some more bits out of it,
but again, I cannot say for sure.

thanks for the list.

Wiking67 15 February 2018 02:29

Can someone zone the list ? there is ol
aso dead disk doctor

chip 15 February 2018 05:37

There's no list in the zone

heavy 15 February 2018 10:47

can someone please split the archive by year ? the resume download don't work (lost 2 gb of download !)

chip 15 February 2018 12:27

Try with a ftp client program like Filezilla
It should be more efficient with big archives than download done via browser

happymondays 15 February 2018 18:03

I uploaded that list again, I do not know how it got removed, might have been me, accidentally clicking on remove or whatever.

chip 15 February 2018 18:11

Good stuff ;)

Do you think are able to create the CD ISOs then ?

happymondays 15 February 2018 18:36

I don't know, but I most probably will only be able to have a look at it next week.

chip 15 February 2018 18:49

Just spotted that HOL2001 has uploaded on the ftp this BBS backup again :laughing

1time 15 February 2018 21:42

He should have checked the BBS directory before ;)

emufan 19 February 2018 05:09

I have found some lightwave stuff, which I cannot find complete elsewhere.
all in 94-97.txt listed:

INTER2-4.DMS -> maybe missing

can anyone zone them? :)

chip 19 February 2018 06:42

INTER2-4.DMS is not present in the BBS archive

The rest yes and it's zoned now ;)
