tablet.library

DPaint 4.6 wants me to have tablet.library when I try to set pressure. Anyone could provide? Thank you.

Amiga1992 12 March 2012 15:33

Which tablet did you end up getting and how did you solve the LMB problem?

Predseda 12 March 2012 15:47

I have borrowed Wacom Graphire 2 (ET 0405-R) from Chain and the LMB problem remains unsolved. Tablet works, draws when I press the stylus, RMB works normally. LMB is not needed so much, I would like to have it working, though.

Amiga1992 12 March 2012 17:00

Oh, so it acts as LMB when you press? I thought you couldn't have LMB functionality at all.

Predseda 12 March 2012 20:02

I though so as well, but then I discovered I just need to press harder. With PC it draws just in contact with tablet, no press needed.

Did you ever locate this tablet.library - as my DPaint 4 is also asking for it...i've managed to get a genius easypen tablet sort of working - just not able to get pressure working in DP4.

i was looking through my disks, but no luck. found some other drivers - but all without tablet.library.
thanks to alenppc, there is easyl 1.3 included. maybe an older version could include this library.
the zone holds the tablet-software.zip archive:

Easyl-Driver v1.3
FormAldiHyd v2.3
GTDriver v1.0
PenMouse / PenCraft 2.30
PenPartner v1.3b
PowerTablet (?)
SummaGraphics-AccuPoint 2.0
SummaMouseDriver_CX v2.01
SummaSketch v39.11
WacomTablet v1.12
WacomTablet v1.50

if anyone got others or older version of those listed, please add.

Edit: Imagemaster RT V1.50 does also use tablet.library - but nothing on install disks.

squidbass 12 July 2013 09:59

Thanks Emufan - I'll look through these drivers. I'm using FormAldiHyd for now which sort of works (better than GTDriver). It would be great if we could locate tablet.library though...

I also hadnt success. Working with Formaldihyd as well.

emufan 12 July 2013 21:24

i scanned the utilitydisks from amigascene.org using ScanDeep - without success.
425 disk - just in case someone was about doing so :D

i could imagine the library may sit on one of the related application disks - CAD or drawing tools made around 1990 and earlier.

Edit: this may suggest an earlier version of the easyl driver may have the tablet.library
Quote:

it was ported over to the Amiga by way of the Easyl tablet into Deluxe Paint III/IV.
Edit: there is Easyl version 1.2 on amiga.resource.cx - but the page is down for the last couple weeks. wayback-machine of course failed once more ...
anyone did a mirror of that website or got that disk - Easyl-12.dms ?

there was a mirror: hardware.amiga.hu - also without that file, listed , but not preserved :/

I have a complete backup of that website (archives included). I will look for that dms archive, and let you know.

I have found that file and I have upload it to The Zone!

i had a look onto the disk - no tablet.library :/

tablet.library seems to have been a commercial product from TriMedia, developed in conjunction with Commodore and Electronic Arts. It provides pressure support for Calcomp and Wacom graphics tablets when used as input devices with applications such as ImageFX and DPaint.

tablet.library was not bundled with these applications and had to be purchased separately, but was widely available if expensive.

It seems that tablet.library has become the elusive Amiga dodo. :guru

prowler 14 July 2013 01:31

There is the PenPartner application, which acts as an input handler for Wacom tablets, but development seems to have come to a halt before pressure support was implemented. :sad

From the penpartner.guide:
"The PenPartner driver only provides Amiga system events for now, but I'm now considering emulating tablets using a faked serial device since I want to have pressure support at least for TVPaint !
(Well more precisely, this has been and is still delayed because of lack of time and other projects on the run)."

Edit: TriMedia "AccuPoint TCS Software Kit" is the one on page 127 - something we can looking for :D
full page 127 in the zone.

Edit: calcomp drawingslate II 6x9 graphics tablet:

DrawingSlate includes TriMedia's AccuPoint TCS tablet control software
including the AccuPoint driver and the APConfig preferences editor.
i cannot find this software anywhere.

The AccuPoint software appears to be available HERE, but the archive doesn't contain tablet.library. The plot thickens.......

thanks for the pointer - i just forgot about installer heaven :D

edit:
the manual on the disk talks about "pressure sensitive tablets" dpaint iv and opalpaint.
may anyone try if this works now somehow ?
the manual also talks about installations - "commodore installer included" - so the disk seems to be just a rip of the original :(

a tablet with the software was offered/sold on amiga.org. maybe someone can ask JasonMc or/and Gavilan - maybe they can help :)

Yeh, I came across that thread when I did a Google search before. Can't hurt for someone to contact JasonMc (his email is in his first post in that A.org thread). Gavilan is a member here on EAB also. Good luck with the hunt!
