Checksum error
Hi,
I was transferring some data from my PC directory onto my Compact Flash HD for the amiga, via WinUAE. But suddenly my power cut, and when I got back up again, the WinUAE was reporting Checksum errors, I guess because the transfer was halted. I can get it booted into Workbench, but when accessing that folder I was transferring to, I get the error messages. Anything I can do to get this fixed? I am currently running a DiskSalv at the moment (not sure what that'll do). TIA |
DiskSalv found some errors, but didn't seem to fix anything, as I still got the error messages such as: "Checksum error on disk block 9xxxx" and "DH1 is not validated".
I ran it on all the various modes it had. I think I may just format and start again, but is there anyway to backup the entire drive to make the reinstall easier? I am using ClassicWB GAAE 2.1 |
Run DiskSalv in Salvage mode. This will copy all file to another partition. (After the scan it will list all files and directories it found. You then have to select those you want to save and choose a destination drawer. Then click on Salvage (or was it Start ?) to copy the files.)
Of course you need another partition or another HDD with enough free space. |
Thank god for partitions :]
Just a quick and easy format sorted the problems. Thanks anyways |
