Copy / Paste ?
Hi everyone, just a quick question...
Is it at all possible to copy some text in windows, and then fire up winuae and paste the clipboard contents into amiga word processors / text editors? I've tried a few times but can't get it to work. Any help is much appreciated. Cheers. XimeR |
Formerly you needed the winuaeclip program in sys:wbstartup. Since some releases it works out of the box, just enable clipboard sharing on the misc page.
On the Amiga side the key combination is RAmiga-C and RAmiga-X instead of Ctrl-C and Ctrl-X. |
Clipboard sharing is enabled, but I still cant get it to paste anything.
I've tried the key-combinations, and also using 'paste' from the menus in various text editors but still nothing happens. |
RAmiga-V doesn't work for me, in latest stable, default quickstart config, clipboard sharing enabled. If that's what you use. Maybe doesn't work with remapped Amiga-keys? I guess it's in the manual how to manually specify the event to another key? Only tried Cygnused, AsmOne, CLI though. Maybe the software must use clipboard.device to work, if so point me to a proggie :) Could come in handy.
Try pasting it into Notepad/Notepad++ on the PC side, then copy then paste on Amiga, as word processors can use 'formatted text objects' on the clipboard instead of plaintext. |
I don't use keyboard shortcuts on the Amiga (WinUAE) side but copying some text from Ultraedit on the PC and then choosing Paste from one of the Devpac menus makes the text I copied appear :)

Enable logging, boot without startup-sequence.
Do you see following messages in the log (numbers will be different) clipboard task init: 10048b90 clipboard process init: 10048b90 clipboard initialized |
No those 3 lines don't appear. The only occurrence of the word "clipboard" in the log is...
00-928 [0 000x000]: clipboard: reset (00000000) |
I'm still struggling with this. Do I need winuaeclip?
|
Does it work (missing lines gets logged) if you boot from WB 3.0 or 3.1 disk?
|
No, if I boot with 3.1, then I still only get Clipboard: reset (4 occurrences)
|
Attach winuaelog.txt (tick logging check box in misc panel, boot to WB, wait 5 seconds, exit winuae) and include also your configuration file.

Here you go....

Ah, there is a tiny bug, clipboard sharing does not enable UAE boot rom automatically.
Enable some UAE "expansion" to fix it (directory harddrive or hdf, automount removable devices, uaescsi, bsdsocket, >2M chip RAM size etc..) |
hhmmmm, it's still not working for me. I tried adding various expansion under both 1.3 & 3.1 and still I get nothing.
|
Add some random directory as a harddrive, boot from WB 3.1 disk. Update log and config file. Make sure the config file exactly matches used configuration.
|
Ahh-ha! It's working now that I've added a harddrive folder. That was the only thing I didn't add earlier.
Thanks for your help Toni :) |
Old thread digging as I wanted to try this for the first time today (usually use a file on a hd-folder).
So does it work out of the box with a 1.3 settings ? On amiga cannot paste with "right Amiga"-v any text copied from the PC. Clipboard sharing is enabled in miscellaneous (WinUAE 5.0.0 - 2023.05.31) |

In my opinion On WinUAE "right Amiga + v" works fine but with WB 2.x or higher ! of course you must first enable Clipboard sharing is enabled in miscellaneous With WB 1.3 you cannot copy-paste |

I see. Thanks for the answer.
Did a try by changing the KS to 2.04 & 3.1 (and still booting with my 1.3 HD WB) but it doesn't seems to be enough. It's not that important as the file sharing through an HD-folder works fine but will try to also boot from a WB 2 or 3 and see. |
