Gold Rush! Manual or Answers (Protection)

I've tried to run this:

http://hol.abime.net/2758

in ScummVM but unfortunately the copy protection is not removed (you have to answer questions referring to the manual) *)

Can anybody help? The short manual on lemon is not the right one. There must be a "longer" one.

I've searched much, but "Gold Rush" is a very common topic in google & co :(

*) I know that this workd fine with WHDLoad btw. But I like to use it with scummVM

The book you're searching for is 'California Gold' by Phyllis and Lou Zauner. It's not the manual of the game, but was packed with the game. Guess there's somewhere a PDF of it flying around the net ;) I'll have a look later :)

Unfortunately I haven´t found anything. But thanks for the hint.

Same here :( I really hope someone has the book and can scan it.

Supamax 03 February 2009 21:23

It's available on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.it/California-Gold-L...QQcmdZViewItem

EDIT: would it be possible that different editions have different number of pages (due to different font sizes and impagination) ?
If so, then "word x at page y etc." will be a mess :(

What triggers the protection?

IFW 03 February 2009 23:23

Just start the game :)

mombasajoe 04 February 2009 10:17

I have just hoped that anybody had an already created PDF of it or something similar. There is no need to spend too much time on it. For myself I have just "closed the file". Thanks for your help again.

@Supamax
The pages etc. should not be great problem. There are questions like "What is the name of..." etc. and a hint where to find it (Page/Topic).

You're a funny git! ;)

I just downloaded it and nothing pops up, I downloaded if off Planetemu thinking it wasn't cracked because theres no intro, disk looks untouched.

IFW 04 February 2009 11:11

Start a new game, then you'll be asked to answer the questions, like in Larry. Afair it was right at the beginning of a new game, can take a look in the evening, but that should be it, if the game is original.

The one I downloaded has been cracked, protection did pop up once, so perhaps the OP should just download that, you'll need to install a bootblock and create a startup-sequence to get it to autoboot though.

Thanks. We´ve got a pdf (38 MB).

@Mods

Allowed to share? Via link? FTP?

Graham Humphrey 04 February 2009 15:31

Yeah, should be fine to share it on here, certainly as far as I'm aware.

Nostalgeek 04 February 2009 16:34

Argh, I'm maybe a bit late, but I'm uploading my own manual to Magix FTP right now.

Folder \User\NG

The file is a .7zip file, 27MB. Double-page scanned JPEGs, done myself with my tiny hands a few years ago, and featuring my kiddy handwriting in the corners to note the page numbers ;)

A kind of collector item for when I die rich and famous.

PS: if you're looking for Sierra adventure games stuff, post or send me a PM, there are very high chances that I have it :)

Nostalgeek 04 February 2009 16:51

upload done, you're welcome my good TCD :)

mombasajoe 04 February 2009 20:11

Thanks to NG:

Here´s the one Phantomz has uploaded:

http://.com/files/19376810..._Gold.pdf.html

I´ve compared the first pages with NG´s upload: It seems to fit.
And: It´s high quality pdf. Thanks to you two!
