Amstrad CPC/CPC plus "fanboy" thread
Mod edit:

This thread will be used to post/discuss interesting things about the CPC.
Comparisons with other machines can be posted in other threads.

Thread title changed accordingly

It is Amstrad plus/ GX 4000 but not bad right ?

Amstrad CPC plus Thread

Our Logon System demo friends did it again on Amstrad CPC plus cartridge :

It works with GX4000 and CPC 6128 plus.

Great minds think alike. Thank you both for sharing this video.

Some impressive stuff for the CPC+.

Ghosts 'n Goblins - Overhaul in development for the Amstrad CPC Plus gets an update v

The Amstrad more especially the plus range including the GX4000, is really starting to impress especially with the Shadow of the Beast demo shown off on the Amstrad CPC Plus, which amazed pretty much everyone who saw it. But today's update video is once again showing us just how good the Amstrad is, as thanks to a new video by Stab1l0b0ss, he has shown us better footage of the Ghosts 'N Goblins overhaul that is being coded by Golem13, Graphics by Winner and Sound/FX by Ixien!

I did a full video blog for the system last year. Covered every released game for it:

The Amstrad CPC is a very nice machine. One of the best 8-bits - even better than the C64, but not better than the Sam Coupe. And the GX 4000 is even nicer, but as game console is didn't succeed well in the NES/SNES, Master System/Mega Drive space. As shown on the videos above if programmed well it can do near Amiga ECS quality.
One of these Amiga like demos is the Batman Forever demo from Batman Group:
Very nice Amiga effects there.

Also check out the recent #CPCRetroDev Game Creation Contest - http://cpcretrodev.byterealms.com/20...retrodev-2017/
Very nice games, that can be pretty good candidates for Amiga ports with enhanced graphics and sound. For example Babas Palace, Basket Cases, Bitume etc..

Atari ST quality maybe, but not Amiga ;)

roondar 23 November 2017 14:44

I wonder, are there are other good Amstrad Plus/GX4000 demo's?

I always thought that machine was underrated, it'd be nice to see what coders got out of it in the mean time.

(I know Batman Forever is not Amstrad Plus btw)

lilalurl 30 November 2017 19:38

Locking the thread for now.

I will split it into a "fanboy" thread and a "soundchip" thread in which people will be able to have disagreeing opinions.

Edit : split done

Soundchip discussions can be found there:

Retrofan 30 November 2017 21:44

Oh, I love this fanboy thread now, and it's also for CPC users :great
