Cannot run Poseidon (SUBWAY)
I installed a 4GB CF IDE hard disk today. All I've done so far is install Workbench and Poseidon software for my SUBWAY USB ports. I want to copy my backups using a USB drive, but for the life of me I cannot get Workbench to see it. Poseidon is supposed to begin with Workbench, but it doesn't, and typing system:prefs/env-archive/PsdStackLoader does not do anything. I know that the SUBWAY still works, because it runs fine with my hard disk. It's been more than 10 years since I first installed it, so I don't remember what I did back then.
Can anyone help? |
I am bumping this, in case anyone knows but missed my post the first time around.

I think you need more then just PSDStackloader. After that you also will need to add the Host device and then the Client classes. In my setup:
I have these lines in S:startup-sequence ENVARC:PSDStackloader C:AddUSBHardware DEVS:Rapidroadcpusb.device quiet C:AddUSBClasses quiet |
Note that for a USB drive, if its a normal vfat + MBR formatted one WB wont detect it out of the box.
easiest might is to dedicate a USB stick to Amiga use by using HDToolbox to prep a RDB + FFS partition on it |

....That is rather fascinating....... are you sure you havent some files messed up here?
The only thing that comes to mind is the input.device thats supplied with Poseidon that is derived from MorphOS. I dont know whats happening for you. What you could try is moving everything out of SYS:Classes/USB/ except for: bootkeyboard.class bootmouse.class hid.class masstorage.class hub.class and see what happens :-) |

then i'm puzzled.
What version of Poseidon are you using? What you could try is to grab the Poseidon 4.5 archive, its meant for the RapidRoad but okay. Its the last released one. Then just put the .device for the Subway in DEVS:USBHardware/ and change the AddUSBHardware command accordingly. http://wiki.icomp.de/w/images/4/40/PoseidonV4.lha |
What does trident say. You will need MUI to run trident and also a higher screenmode.
|
I did install MUI and, it's funny, when I run Trident I can see my USB drive listed in it as 'Mass Storage Device'. Why can't I see it on the Workbench screen?
|
Mind you, I have tried other drives, they are all 4GB or less and I can see all of them just fine if I use my previous hard disk.
|
exactly what is on the USB stick? if its PC formatted it wont show up straight away.
|
It is indeed PC formatted. And it does show up right away in my other setup.
|
L:FAT95 missing?
|
Hallelujah! That was it. Thank you so much!

OK now what fresh hell is this??
http://www.atropos-studios.com/External/RecAlert.jpg I copied my files from my PC to the USB drive, thinking my troubles were over, and when I turned the Amiga on I got this message! If I click on it a few times, Workbench starts but of course the USB drive is nowhere to be found and this time it doesn't show on Trident either. Now every time I turn on the Amiga I get this error message. Trying it without the USB drive in the port makes no difference. I don't know if this helps you understand what is going on, but if I boot with no startup-sequence then I don't get the error message, and I can boot Workbench from there - with limited functionality, of course. I am very close to giving up... I've already spent more hours than I can afford on this. |
Not knowing what else to do, I reinstalled Workbench and now it seems OK. Currently copying my files via USB.
|
I'm back, baby! Thanks everyone for your help.
