Philips CM8833 mk2 died

https://youtu.be/2u8nXzaPLJ8

It just died on me. It's been left on for a few hours with no signal on it while I was writing on a document on my mac. Suddenly I heard like a snap (electronic, not "electric") and there was a violet line in the middle of the screen centered taking up about 2/3rd of the width and being about 3mm tall.

The video above is me taking a video of it with signal from the A500.

What is it, and what can I do. Is this a flyback transformer fix or worse? This monitor is just "weeks old". I bought it from E-Bay from a guy in Germany.

Vertical collapse. This is not a flyback issue.. Recap + IC302 maye.

Oh, dear, this is only going to become a more common problem as time goes on. If you are not an expert, definetly get one to do a hands on check

More and more people are repairing these monitors. I've got a black CDTV 1084 that is quite rare that I'd like to get repaired. There is/was someone on Amibay who I believe was a semi-professional monitor engineer in the UK near Birmingham. He offered me lots of good interactive advice on how to debug and repair a monitor yourself. His name was Roy Bates. Dunno if he is still active.

He is, he's given me lots of good pointers already on what to look at first.
