I managed to contact the owner and CEO of Oregon Research, the company responsible of releasing many popular Amiga titles such as:

GameSmith Development System (game programming)
Termite (BBS software)
Termite TCP (tcp-ip stack)

He kindly allowed me to put all Oregon Research products in the Public Domain :spin

That's great news!
I seem to remember there was some talk about there being a version 1.6 of Termite TCP, but the highest found at the time was 1.2...???

Is that still the case?

Yes the last version of Termite TCP was 1.60 (around 1998)
The last one I have is 1.5 though :(

If someone has version 1.60, please upload it to the zone.

Did 1.5 support ethernet cards?
I seem to remember reading that 1.2 and before was serial only???

Haven't found 1.60 yet..

I have a Network card for my A1200, but I need to move some things around to get it to reach the switch (and my memory expansion is supposedly on it's way) so I haven't set it up with TCP/IP yet..

I was going to go with AmiTCP, but I think I might try Termite first if it supports it..

Not afraid of command line configs; I understand networking pretty well, so we'll see.

A long time back I bought Termite TCP and BBS and to me it was the best at the time and I couldn't be happier now that its Public Domain =)

So from where can I DL Gamesmith?
This is a QL thing.

I've put the 3 disk version of GameSmith that was once uploaded to the zone on the file server in the folder 'App/Disk' :)

Termite 1.60 appears to be on the file server, but still needs a working serial.

You're right. There is a 1.50 version Gulliver linked to here: http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthre...658#post577658

But it's cracked. So it will work to install (apparently, I haven't tried), but it doesn't have a Serial # to use for 1.60.

Not sure what the diff is between 1.50 and 1.60 either..

When I run it, it says registering.. There's a lot of floppy activity (using WinUAE), and then it goes to the next step, which I'm going to cancel since I didn't copy my DH0 disk before I started and I'm not sure I want to clean up whatever it leaves behind in case it does mean things to my startup stuff. ;-)

OK, the "disk activity" was "registering" the floppy. When I ran it a second time, it didn't ask for the serial number again.

However, I am not seeing anything that looks like it supports network cards.. It still looks like it want to be serial.

Of course, I don't have a manual. When I run the main app, it has a window with a text entry box and a "connect" and "disconnect" buttons. When I click "connect", it asks about a null connection, so the box would be where the ISP phone number goes I am guessing..

It does look very light weight tho. The 1.60 version said it's optimized for a 68020, but includes a version for the plain 68000.
I'll try it on an A500 1.3 type setup and see what happens. It even has an "install to floppy" option.

Also, I tried installing Termite 1.60 under WB 1.3 and I gave the Winuae Amiga up to 3M RAM and the installer runs out of memory. So I don't think 1.60 works on 1.3.
The older versions probably do..

Also, it's possible that this will only work with serial (Modem/Null) connections.
If it can work with a PCMCIA card, It'd be good to know how..
Is the manual scanned yet? (I'll browse the Amiga Manual site)

I'm 90% sure I proved a few years ago that Termite v1.60 only support dial up via serial (SLIP). No ethernet support, i.e. doesn't work with PCMCIA card.

As for working with a Null modem to a PC (internet connection sharing via SLIP), almost certainly under Linux, unsure if anyone will be able to get Windows 7 to work these days but maybe you can.

I've got an update to that pdf I must get it uploaded again after a couple of typos crept into the original :o
