Amiga Forever v7 Missing Disk Images

So, I just bought Amiga Forever (Plus Edition) for the sole purpose of having a complete archive of Workbench, albeit working around their mods. Shock and Horror! I'm missing a full dozen disk images. 1.3 and 3.1 are the only complete sets, all of the other versions are Workbench only, no Extras or other system disks.

Why are you posting here? Call the company, find out what's going on with your copy or if that is what is supposed to happen

Minuous 01 October 2018 08:43

It's like that with every copy, I'm afraid.

I'd be asking for a refund if I'd paid money for their crippleware.

In what way is it crippleware. Its using patches that people have been using for years. Its just included, instead of you having to install them.

Minuous 01 October 2018 11:37

It's crippleware because you only get 1 disk of a 6-disk operating system. Nothing to do with what patches it uses.

He said you get 1.3 and 3.1 complete set. Only others are missing complete sets. Considering 1.3 and 3.1 were the most important in my opinion, who cares about others. Could always contact Cloanto direct and I bet they would give missing disk images to them.

Minuous 01 October 2018 13:55

It's false advertising, which is illegal.

And I highly doubt they would be send the missing disk images to anyone, they are well known for not supporting their customers properly.

Not true in my case. Every time I've contacted Cloanto they have always sorted the problem.

@ DocFlareon

The missing disks can be found on the web.

Do they advertise that it comes with complete disk sets for all version of OS ?

Minuous 02 October 2018 14:29

@SOulA55sa55in:

Yes. From http://www.amigaforever.com/features/ :

"The Plus Edition includes a complete set of ROM and operating system versions (all from 0.7 to 3.X)"

Well, doesn't it includes those versions as machines to run?
It's just the ADF files that aren't complete for all versions, correct?
(I am not at my Amiga and it's been a while since I looked at what came with the Plus Edition.)
It could be splitting hairs, but I'm not sure they specifically said they included complete kickstart files and ADF images of all of the OS versions...
(Again, I could be wrong. I don't have the Plus information in front of me...)
OK, in that link you said, they also say:
Quote:

A collection of all Amiga ROM versions ever released (from 0.7 to 3.X), including A1000, A590/A2091 and A4091 boot ROMs, and extended CDTV and CD³² ROMs, accompanied by a similar selection of bootable Workbench disk images
I think the important phrasing is the word "similar." They very specifically say there that the selection of disk images is not the same as the machines...

There is one disk that I haven't been able to find on-line, Extras v1.0. I have a complete set of images, save for that one disk.

Agreed!

I've had nothing but success with talking to Cloanto and getting my problems sorted.

Try the facebook page too - they've been real responsive there as well

.. and also agree!

I have had no whatsoever problems getting support from Cloanto (usually replies comes within hours from sending them email). I rarely use Amiga Forever,/C64 Forever but I have continued to support the product by purchasing every update released for more than 10 years (physical Premium versions 2008 and 2013).
