Educational software that still holds today?

Looking on a ceetain FTP server I found an education dirextory full of stuff.

Some of it is obviously for learning languages (and I remember learning French on my Amiga and getting better marks as a result). Can anyone recommend other applications? I imagine history applications should also hold up well, as long as my 8 year old isn't put off my how un-iPhone like it is.

Hi,

I have a small (but growing) education section on my site - some good titles here too.

I remember really wanting the Hannah Barbera animation studio when I read the review in Amiga Format. Never got it though so no idea if it's any good or not!

Yes, it does look very good. I'm looking forward to trying these out, thank you for the link. I wonder how I didn't find this page when I was googling though.

Thanks for the tip edd_jedi, I'll see if it's in TOSEC. Actually, I might read the article first since I have most of those issues as PDF.

It would be nice to have some info on those along with the pictures (although I see you have the adfs linked). The only one I've found so far is Animal Land on YouTube:

It's pretty abysmal by todays standard. Imagine what it would have been like if Rainbow Arts or Psygnosis had done it :) Having said all that, it's aimed at a much younger age than my eight year old and they might be far more forgiving. I'm not comparing to todays software, which would obviously be nuts. But even by the standard of the time it looks like the old educational category goes as underfunded as ever!

Hi ya,

Yes, this is definitely something I'm looking at doing and will probably implement very soon as the small indexing screenshot doesn't give anything away. I'm not quite sure why I didn't add information in the first place (like I have with the Games database). Thank you for the suggestion.

Oh, and...

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Oh, my pleasure. If I had screen capture software I'd make a little sixty second video summarising each one as I get through them. But if I come across reviews etc. in magazines I could send them to you if you like. Or you could update this thread when you update your site as I'd love to see the changes.
