Amiga OS 3.1.4 - jpg/jpeg/png.
Hi Folks,

I`m trying to install a Workbench setup, with a couple of extras, and so far the installation of the base OS + Picasso96 - MUI - some libraries and a couple of other things went well.

I was wondering if anyone here knows what to install to be able to open jpg-jpeg-png and similar files, either to set them as a background or else.
So far I had no luck with that.
My setup is a 68030 - AGA - Zorro 3 as RTG, I suppose more ram than enough.

Thanks for any suggestion.

There is the Datatypes system: http://aminet.net/util/dtype Just install needed file formats and Mulitview or other programs that use datatypes can handle them. Then there exists special player/viewer programs that have native support for file formats.

You need to add datatypes for those files to be readable by software that doesn't support them explicitly, such as the Workbench background itself and the Multiview viewer. There are a few options, some free, some commercial, but all should do the job. Aminet is a good place to start.

The Amiga Datatypes system allows any software to support any file format, so long as a datatype is installed for it.

Edit: Ugh, daxb's post definitely wasn't there when I wrote this post ;)

Ok guys, thank you for both answers, I'm not really familiar with MultiView but I'll do some reasearch and give it a shot later :)
I'll let you know.

Cool. Multiview is a simple viewer that uses the datatypes system to load any files, be they text, images, animations, sound etc. If you install a datatype for a filetype, Multiview can open it.

Warp DT Datatyes are the most recent one: https://www.warpdt.co.uk/ .. Visage is a classic image viewer: http://aminet.net/package/gfx/show/Visage

For other viewers check and sort by date to see what has been made the last years:

Ok, so, tested and working.
Looks like I was missing the akJFIF-dt.lha, no problem with jpg now.
Although I made a fresh install, I'll keep customizing the system a bit more.
Thanks again for your help!
