Loom (FR + IT) gfx issue

1 Attachment(s)
I have searched EAB forum but did not find an answer to this question :

- does someone has a working cracked Loom (FR) that is not suffering this gfx issue ? :) (picture from the Angel's release)

I would prefer a disk set (instead of WHDLoad) as it is for an AOS1.3 config.

Thanks for your feedback

Ok with the help of SnoopDos I looked for the files that are loaded before this gfx issue.

The file loaded just before is the "53.LFL".

With very little hope :D I have overwritten the 53.LFL file with the 53.LFL from an IPF version of Loom I found (Europe). To my surprise the game loaded but the the gfx was still corrupted ;) . Damn :laughing
So I did try to overwrite also (fisrt) the 70.LFL & (second) the 09.LFL but those times the game did not even load*... :D

So my last hope is that a talented coder ...

Any volunteer ? :D Please :bowdown

Edit: *Wrong wording. The game loads but I get error messages asking to insert disk

I tried to install on HD Loom French and uploaded your save game and I have not met a problem :confused

Does Loom work fully from HD I thought disk 1 used part of its own filesystem

It's during the sequence (after the swan broke the stained-glass window and all leave the room)

AMIGASYSTEM 21 March 2018 23:47

I've never played Loom, the duck broke the egg and I do not know what to do anymore:)

malko 22 March 2018 00:28

Your first screenshot was before the gfx issue. And your second one after :laughing.
Could you post a screenshot when all swans fly out of the room ;)

Thumbnail in post #1 updated (difference between cracked & original copy)

It does work from HD. :)
Except this gfx issue on the cracked copy (appears twice in the game) the game can be played to the end and never ask for any disk.

We confirm the graphic problem on animation, even in the Italian version :spin

As requested by malko via PM; thread title updated :p

Qui ose saccager le Loom des Tisserands ? :mad

I remember having found an english version that crashed before the end. Seems many damaged versions are lurking around.
But this game has no copy protection other than manual codes and installing it on HD is just file copy. It appears to work fine even under OS3.x and Winuae JIT...
Graphics corruption as shown above seems more like corrupted data, or very poor and very stupid crack.

I have a cracked Loom FR version that can be finished. I can zone it if requested.

This copy is the one I used back in the day to play the game (gfx issue was already there...).

Please "Zone" yours ! :bowdown

Meynaf, do you think you can do something for the Italian release as well ? As AMIGASYSTEM reported the same issue on his copy... If it's important for AMIGASYSTEM of course :)
Maybe finding the "LFL" file that is corrupted and patching it ? (I'm not the expert, let you see what is feasible).

LFL (LucasFiLm) files contain scripts and graphics but also texts.
Therefore damaged LFLs can not be restored from a foreign version.
Only possible start is a working Italian version (provided i can find back how i cracked it back in the day and it applies to this version as well).

Merci meynaf ! Ça fonctionne à merveille. :great .
I was even able to restore the save-game provided in post #2.

Lha & Lzx (& Dms) were the most used files format on Amiga. So almost ~"native" for my OS1.3 :D .

Ok. So it's in you hands AMIGASYSTEM to find an unmodified Italian version.
