Auto-fire Detection/Disabling?
Quick request/question:
- Please give name of games that you know disable joystick auto-fire (note: while you're at it, you don't have to restrain to Amiga platform! C64, Spectrum, ST, CPC (and so on) games with this characteristic may just as well be listed, as long as you specify the platform obviously). I'd start but I don't know of any yet myself (hence this topic!!). I've read Cybernoid II (C64) does disable it but haven't tried it to confirm. - BTW, is the auto-fire function implemented in WinUAE also subjected to this kind of detection/disabling by the way? |
"Is there anybody OUT THERE?"
(...to quote a famous prog band) C'mon, there HAS to be at least a few people around these parts who have a few answers to this, right? |
Each joystick have different autofire - slower or faster so it may be not possible to recognize if it's fast gamer or just switch. On youtube you can see some japanese gamers which play arcade machines like robots.

Just measure period - if it is regular i.e. repeat with defined accuracy then it is autofire - people especially after some time introduce some random jitter.
