first recap of 1200

Alright guys, I've just done my first ever recap of a 1200, the fit n finish is a bit ropey but it looks like everything it in place. 2 of the tracks had its coating removed because I couldn't remove the solder so I painted over it with my birds nail varnish. I'm bricking turning it on, are there any checks I can do? Are all nail varnishes OK or do I need a special kind?

I got bored so turned it on, I've got a serial port dongle and pins 6 & 8 are reported as bad, is this an issue? All parallel pins are bad, the dongles are from PC diagnostic software called microscope2000.

Amiga ports are slightly different from typical Intel PC serial and parallel ports. Close enough to be compatible with most devices, but still some pin differences.

Thanks Amigahope, the left mouse button doesnt work, its the rev 2B mainboard. Any ideas?

Was it working before the recap? The left mouse button is pretty straightforward and is handled by the U7 CIA. Check the voltage on pin 6 of the port (should be close to 5V when the button is not pressed, 0V when it is). Use a multimeter to check the relevant traces between the port and the CIA.

Just for clarity, there are no electrolytic capacitors directly involved in the left mouse button operation.

Cheers daedalus, the left Amiga key was depressed by the case (its nit fitted together properly yet. Alls good.

So I've got a disc called Bugs Bunny that will not run on a machine with 2.0mb, it says not enough memory. So I ran it on my good 1200 with 4.0mb of ram and it runs OK. On this new one I'm getting a guru:
According to my docs,

01 equates to exec library failure.
00 equates to no error
000F equates to the exact error which has occurred but my documentation doesn't go as high as 000F. Can anyone shed any light on this?
