hardback chosen :)

Just watched the video on the kickstarter page and instantly backed the hard back version. It will go nicely with the visual compendium book I backed last year.:D

DamienD 14 June 2016 22:30

I must say it does look very good indeed; might have to purchase :agree

I already have the Ocean book and the gold edition of the US Gold book. Chris has done an excellent job with those and this will be no exception. :)

zapiy 14 June 2016 23:51

Chris has produced many high quality books now and this will be no exception..

Can not wait.

And again - there is NO interview or article or something regardin' Andrew Braybrook? This was a reason I didn't support Hewson book. How can be a book about Hewson Consultants without AEB???

Chase him, persuade him for a collaboration and I am on.

Greyfox 15 June 2016 13:59

wasn't Andrew cover in retro gamer magazine in 2014 in the June issue of Retro Gamer? I'm trying to see what he could bring to the table, afaik wasn't there only three games done on the Amiga he was involved? That's very strange he wasn't in the Hewson book since that's what he's best known from?

some great perks being presented on the Amiga : Story of Pixels page..Starquake is getting a full boxed version release now thanks to Galahad.

I interviewed Andrew for an Amiga Lore article about Graftgold.

True for all Andrew Braybrook's C64 games, but only on the Amiga when Graftgold ditched the ST/C64 as the lead development machine. All his best stuff on the Amiga came from Fire and Ice (released in 1992, a masterpiece of a game!) onwards IMHO.

Anyway, going back to the topic, am I the only one who's a bit bored of these retrogaming pixel books that are all flash with lotsa blown-up screenshots, but ultimately have little substance?!

No, I have the same feeling. And also similar with all those game game music remake CDs.

(And offtopic: do not forget Uridium 2! Awesome coding example.)

No, you're not alone.
Sounds like easy money to me. Can be done at home, and at no risk due to Kickstarter financing.

Just for you, I shall pass the message on!

- Update - Braybrook said no :( - So there you have it!

Predseda 15 June 2016 19:31

Sad, but he probably doesnt want to be connected with that era anymore. Thank you Neil.

Yep, I think the books aimed at individual developers offer much more in terms of content. I'll pass on this one but I'm sure Chris will do a sterling job.
