Aminet - Who to contact?

Hi all.

I can't get in contact with admins on aminet..
I have tried the following email given on the site, but it is just returned.
aminet@aminet.net

I have a upload I'd like to update, but can't overwrite the old file when I log in...

Cgutjahr is often on Amiga.org and admins amiga-news.de.

We're aware of that, but unfortunately our hands are somewhat tied regarding this problem. I hope we'll have it fixed soon.

What do you mean, "overwrite the old file"? Just upload the new file and specify "Replaces: path/to/old_package.lha" in the header of the readme file.

As I understood I was supposed to overwrite the old upload with the new file named exactly the same... I thought that was why I had to log in with my email as password as to give me permission to do that only to my own uploads.

I will upload the new one, and put it in the readme instead, thanks :)

Still can't upload to the correct path, not even with new filename....

What path do I upload to?

No. You're actually not logging in at all, you are using "anonymous FTP" - that's not Aminet specific at all. It used to be customary to use one's email address as a password when using anon FTP so the admin could contact you if he had questions or complaints about anything you did - but that was only for politeness sake and it's not really necessary for Aminet since you're also uploading a readme file which contains contact details.

Nobody can directly replace files on Aminet. You connect to aminet.net, go to the "new" directory and upload your package and readme files (don't be alarmed if they vanish from the directory after a few minutes). A moderator will then have a look at it, perform various checks and add it to the database.

Uploading instructions are available here: http://wiki.aminet.net/Uploading_instructions

It is still unable to use official Aminet email provided on its website, it returns as undeliverable. I need someone to ask about copyright of one of the files I want to upload.

zipper 20 February 2017 13:52

Ask Korodny, he's the boss.

Korodny 20 February 2017 15:36

Yeah, the mail server is a neverending story. I've been yelling at the responsible admin for a while, let's hope it gets back online soon.

We can discuss the issue here, if you'd rather discuss it in private just send a mail to team@amiga-news.de
