Gods with sfx & audio tracks
After a hard week of work/test/debug/work/test, I'm able to propose you Gods CD32 with audio tracks to download:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yvpa8yqhbh..._CD32.zip?dl=0 It uses the audio from Sega version (for menu & game completed screens) and also from original Richard Joseph recordings left to the owner of gods-country at the time (I believe so), far superior to the Sega tracks. Running using the latest CD32load v0.40 which is now able to hook on the whdload slaves to play audio tracks through dedicated "cdslaves". I hope you'll enjoy it. It really adds to the gameplay. |
Damn. Great stuff :great I'll check it out later

Nice one.. Had a quick test, Menu & Level 1 ingame music seem to work fine. It is definitley different. Nice work.
|
Jotd, it looks Gods is just your fate :)
Thank you! |
Forgive my ignorance, but could an A4000 with CD-ROM drive play this?
|
Nice, I will check it :) would it be possible to add before game starts intro animation from Snes/Genesis?
|
It works without problems in emulation. But i have to admit, the Genesis music is awful. Technically and the compositions. :)
|
Presumably you could replace the sound files with the PC versions or a mix of what are the best, none of them seem to quite fit the game on every level.
In my mind they should be more dark rather than upbeat. But amazing work JOTD:bowdown |
@trixster no, it's CD32 hardware specific. It requires a real CD32 (or emulated) to work.
for the music, it's been composed either by John Foxx or by Richard Joseph. I have the Roland MT32 versions (PC) too, check my Gods remake homepage for that. If someone proposes better music I'm interested. I personally think that the tunes fit the game. But the Genesis tunes suck just a little... Maybe could be replaced by remixes for the intro there are soo many good Gods remixes around by bluejooz, daxx & others, check www.amigaremixes.com IIRC or in the music pack in my homepage) Adding the animation has already been done (CDXL of the video on youtube, I think Galahad released a version with this). This ISO isn't distributed by "official" channels like Amigajay or such. But they can rebuild the ISO with animations, it's not a problem. Not sure I want to do that myself ATM. Concentrating on the music coding part, soon a new game... |

you must build a real CD, then use the CD32 emulator which comes with idefix97 package also you need the 4 pins audio cable connected from your cdrom to your motherboard ( to listen cd music) |

Most CD32 games don't take over the system which allows relatively simple software emulation to work. |

I don't understand why you say this game will not work |
Quote:
Microcosm does not use hardware loader but game requires quite accurate CD timing. |
Quote:
it is basically a software conversion, I don't think jotd implemented a hardware loader or cd timming for this game I will check this later in winuae |
I will try it with my squirell.

Myth, Chuckrock, and CannonFodder use RNC and none work except CannonFodder on the Squirrel emulator but think it uses patched Executable.
These added audio games use CD32load based on RNC loader, but give it ago but if Toni says no thats probably you answer. |

I take it you've read the following thread MrZ and do realise that Toni was involved in making all this reality? ... CD audio games enhancement project Quote:

It's very hard to catch Toni telling nonsense about the amiga...
Let me explain again why it's not possible for those games. Those games originally use WHDLoad because they take over the system to load from floppy. The system is DEAD. So my only option was to re-use RN hardware banging CD routine to plug it into a whdload emulation software (which was later abandoned to use the better Psygore CD loading routine which can read parts of files, and fixes bugs where there are a lot of files on disk) Now I could plug Toni CD audio routine, still hardware banging, because there's no other choice. Emulation solutions basically provide a disk-based cd.device that catches the cd calls and allows to play music, read raw tracks, ... plus other stuff fool the machine (lowlevel.library/nonvolatile.library, which are designed to work on both CD32 and real amigas) That's not the case here. Appendix: list of known official games using RN CD (not a lot, as you see): - James Pond 3 - Chuck Rock 1 & 2 - Myth - Premiere - Lotus trilogy I may forget some... As you see, all of the above games kill the system in their original version. Games like Lemmings (and others, like Oscar, Chaos Engine,Wrath of the Demon, Fire & Ice) were specifically rewritten for the CDTV/CD32 to be OS friendly. This was probably a lot of work. And that allowed for Oscar to be able to run CD music in the first place. Games which were already OS-friendly (like D/Generation for instance) didn't need too many changes to work on the CD32. |
And it doesn't work :( both Gods and Wonderdog freeze on winuae (I use version 3.0 and 2.4, both with default quickstart cd32) before first level starts. It boots, show first screens, menu, load level1 and freeze.
