Sim City 2000 issues
I had my own copy but was notified to download from http://www.exotica.org.uk/mirrors/am.../simcity2k.htm and save to the Documents/FS-UAE/Downloads directory.
I did that but it still doesn't work. There are 2 zips available at that link: sc2000.zip - contains the game simcity2000.zip - contains the manuals is it possible that FS-UAE has the two confused and is looking for the wrong zip? |
i just have a look, for me it just recognize the deutsh version.
you should try with this one Sim City 2000 (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PSG](Disk 1 of 3)[HD] http://www.planetemu.net/roms/commod...mes-adf?page=S |
Sim City 2000 isn't working yet in FS-UAE. Neither the floppy Image version which needs to be installed, nor the already preinstalled HDinst version from the EAB FTP.

ok i make it run...
You have to download the version i told you, instead of DH0 (hd://template/workbench) select a folder with a fresh wb3.1 install then launch...When you are in the workbench just open disk 1 and install the game select novice and when it's installed open the dh0: harddisk and open simcity2000 folder then just double click on simcity2000 icon and that's it, just put a name to register and it's ok.A picture to proove it. It's not the easy way but it works. |
Of course it runs with a custom setup WB. I meant the FS-UAE database scanned versions.

Thanks Turrican3, I appreciate that. I will probably wait until its part of database though as I hope to avoid using WB etc for the kids. Retro-Nerd - any idea why it doesn't work at the moment? (sorry, just read the thread you linked to).
|
I "unpublished" the database entry for SimCity 2000 for now, since for most people, the variants will not work out of the box. We'll have to review how we can make this game more easily playable (FS-UAE Launcher may need some more features).

Hi Frode
Have you had any further thoughts on this? Maybe the workbench dependency a showstopper but its a pity to have this great title out in the cold. Sent from Ubuntu Touch using the Forum Browser app |
@TenLeftFingers thanks for reminding me, I should take another look at this :)
|
All thanks to you Frode ;)

Here is a minimum file system layout to make it work (powered by snoopdos :)):
Code:
DH0 Code:
setpatch |
@jbl007 thanks for the info and testing :)
Unfortunately, it still didn't work properly here (guru). But after some additional testing , I've found out that the game only works if you click on the resolution in the resolution list before clicking OK. If you just click OK (even though 640x512) is pre-selected, the game does not work. The screen resolution is stored my modifying the "res1" file. I can see a one-byte difference here when clicking and not clicking the resolution. Byte 714534 is set to 0x2 when it works, 0x1 when it crashes. |
I have now published the game. It should work in the current development version :)
(Two variants are available, the "Modified" variant has a modified res1 file with the resolution already selected, so no chance to mess up the startup). Running the variants requires you to have a Workbench 3.0 disk scanned by the file scanner. |
Haven't tested yet. Did you forget to update the hd_requirements and hd_startup keys of the modified version?
|
No, I specificed hd_requirements = workbench -- this works in the existing FS-UAE Launcher development versions, and causes the Launcher to create a WB HD based on a WB 3.0 disk. Works fine :)
So the part which had me confused for a while was the "mysterious" guru... |
I have 3 adfs (TOSEC, zipped) and the workbench disks are labelled like this:
EX-3_1.ADF FO-3_1.ADF IN-3_1.ADF LO-3_1.ADF ST-3_1.ADF WB-3_1.ADF Is that enough or do I need to do something additional? The launcher shows 2.6.0beta2 |
This game is a bit special (compared to most other games on oagd.net), you need to have:
- A zip containing the *installed game* (installed from floppies in Workbench and then zipped). It doesn't actually have to be zipped, but easier this way. - A Workbench 3.0 floppy disk. I may review this later and add support for other Workbench disks/versions. The reason I chose 3.0 was the Cloanto's Amiga Forever included an unmodified Workbench disk (also found in TOSEC), while some of the files on their WB3.1 disk were modified if I remember correctly. |
