total newbie

some assistance for the new boy please. I have installed winuae and aiab sucessfully. I am confident using adf and hdf files. My question is, i have downloaded files from WHDload and was wondering what is the procedure for getting them onto my winuae (remembering i am totally new at this so please reply in idiot speak).

Files from WHDLoad's web site are not all you need to get games running. You actually have to have original (in most cases) games or floppy images of originals.

To get files into AIAB, just place files in one of HD folders in AIAB setup. (can't remember correctly what they are called, but should be self explanatory like 'system', 'work' and 'hd-games' or something like that. Then when you start AIAB, you can access those files.

I'm sure there was a function in winuae where you could mount a windows folder as a folder in workbench, kinda like a hard disk? Not a HDF file, but sommat similar? Dammit, can't remember off hand.

Look around the documention and the menus, it is there somewhere!

Hello and a warm welcome to EAB.:great
First you need WHDLoad and install it.
The files from the WHDLoad site are just the installs no the actual games.
In the past we had a WDLoad games site which had all the games fully WDLoadefied but it's currently under constructions. Read the FAQ where you can download games.

It is directory HD in WinUAE HD settings, but as he said, he already installed AIAB, and AIAB is installed in directory HDs, then he does not have to create additional share HD (unless he wants to).

I would suggest to get ClassicWB, as everything is already installed including WHDLoad.

classic wb

i have now got classic workbench installed. How do i run WHD games from amiga magix, etc.

Download game, place it in HD-Games (or what's called).

Extract them, and play.

BTW, don't forget to register WHDLoad. That helps a lot!
