Does anyone here know if a patch exists to make Wipeout 2097 recognise a CD32 joystick?

Pyromania 26 September 2008 02:59

Cool!

Mad-Matt 26 September 2008 13:02

Wipeout doesnt need a patch, it works right from the start with cd32 pad.

Bamiga2002 26 September 2008 13:09

But still it's best played with a mouse. Analog vs. digital...

Yes it works as a single button Joystick. However I cant get the shoulder buttons to work as air brakes etc...

I had this problem with AB3D back in the nineties. It seems that some Amigas don't readily respond to the shoulder buttons when others do.
(This assumes of course that support actually exits for the shoulder buttons in the program.)

I mentioned this problem to that bright and starry centre of goodwill and coding skill (aka John Girvin) and in a trice he produced a little program that fixed the problem. Its called Setjoyport, its on Aminet, and I run it before AB3D and..... it works!

I don't know if this is the same issue, or if CD32 support exists in Wipeout, but worth a try perhaps.

Mad-Matt 26 September 2008 16:48

All the buttons should work (I used an original commodore pad) as I completed the game using it all those years ago. Would have been unplayable if i had to use keyboard as well for those functions ;). I cant remember for sure, but there maybe a specific controller option within the games options.

Edit: Lowlevel.lib didnt work to well with cd32 pad with an old 030/40 magnum card, but I never had issues with the pad and 040/25 bppc.

Hmmmm, Girv can you sort me out?

Girvnet here I come!

SetJoyPort fixed it! Nice one Girv ;)

Which should be embarrassing as PPC + Permedia2 is 2x-3x PSX performance!
