Internet Browser

Hello all,

Little bit behind with Amiga browsers. Currently have Aweb3.2demo and Voyager 3.2 installed.

Looking for something recent and supported that is generally all round "usable" in todays online environment.

Running on a 68030@50 16mb ram, native video.

There is Ibrowse which would be comparable to Aweb, it is being slowly developed i believe with css planned for the future....

Modern CSS browsers are starting to emerge also,
  • Sputnik http://khtml.ppa.pl/, is well on the way to being a fully funtional browser, but is only for Morphos atm, with OS4 version planned
  • The was also a Opensource port of Webkit started in AROS, but that is stalled

AWeb is free now. You can download version 3.5 from http://aweb.sunsite.dk/

Nice one, I'll look into those. Forgot to mention, running Workbench 3.1.

I'm a "Classic Man"

Well my pad is very messy, and there's whiskers on my chin. And I'm all hung up on Amigas, and I always play to win.

I ain't got no time for lovin', cause my time is all used up.

Just to sit around creatin', all that groovy kind of stuff.

I'm a classic man, yes I am, and I can't help, but love Amigas'. I'm a man, yes I am, and I can't help, but love Amigas'.

Hello
What about ibrowse 2.4?

kriz 23 May 2008 14:30

Ibrowse 2.4 demo would be the best for now .... Not availible to buy
since april last year :(

SkippyAR 23 May 2008 14:36

I'm trying to login to eab.abime.net using AWEB 2, goes to a redirecting page then back to the main page, and won't let me in :crying

Just looking to see if there are any EAB FAQs for browser support.

Since you can't buy Ibrowse 2.4 now, could someone not release the full version in the zone?

Thats a bit keen, ibrowse is still being developed and there is a demo version available, :agree

I would also like to see Ibrowse uploaded to the zone. I'd love to buy Ibrowse, but it seems that it may be unavailable for a very long time, so now there's no way to get hold on it (exept the demo version) :crying!!!

DDNI 02 June 2008 11:04

The Ibrowse demo is actually very usable.

Its main limitation is one browser screen at a time, and max 30mins use. (at which point you close it and start it again).

Apparently development of Ibrowse 3 is proceeding, but slowly.

I reckon they have sold the name to Apple.... Ibrowse the new iPod browser.... ;)

that would be a smart move!! they would then have plenty of cash to develop Abrowse!!

Why would anyone want to go through the pain of using an Amiga web-browser?

They are slightly useful in those very rare times where you are at a show or a party or something and you only have your Amiga with you.

99% of the time its easier and more fun just to switch to a MAC/PC.

If your Amiga is networked to your PC and you have a GFX card you can always open a window on the Amiga which is the web-browser running on a remote machine! (Amiga VNC, X11 or Remote Desktop)

No-one has an Amiga as their main computer anymore, certainly not an 030 based one.

I believe that would be against the board rules...

Yum Yums

"IBrowse 2.4 is temporarily unavailable for purchase. Apologies for any inconvenience."

Hmm, not much use is it! Does anyone know how much it is?

I would like to purchase a Key File to unlock Ibrowse 2.4, because I like it. Seems to be the most stable Browser for myself. Plus it has SSL support, and loads of useful addons @ aminet.net.

Just wish I could get SSL working for MSN Hotmail BitlBee Daemon.
