Serial debugging while booting
 

Hello,

I've been looking for some info about capturing Amiga boot debug messages spit out through the serial port.
I've setup a PC with PuTTY connected to a null modem cable to my A4000, but nothing comes out.

My question is: do stock Amiga send to serial port debug messages upon boot? Because after googling a bit it seems that the only way I can have some debug through serial is just if I enable ROM-Wack or other third party tools, but the boot process is already finished. That would be helpful if I want to debug a piece of sotware, not the very boot process, am I right?

In theory I should have a ROM with debug enabled (sort of "--with-serial-debug" when compiling AROS), but there's no such thing for AmigaOS, correct?

I'm quite sure that nothing gets sent to the serial port during the normal boot process. As you said, if you needed output while booting I think you'd need to hack up some method to get it.
