Amiga A4000 progress/pics

Just thought I'd throw this out.....I'm just getting near where I want everything so showing a quick pictures (excuse the dust/dirt/clutter).
My A4000 is booting of a CF Card reader and I have a SATA SSD drive for storage using a SATA to IDE converter. That's taking up Master 0/Slave 1. I have the 4-Way IDE adapter and have s Slim DVD-RW drive (with slim IDE to 40pin IDE adapter) on channel 3 (no jumpers to make it 2). A friend helped me acquire a few items and one was a X-Surf 100 with RapidRoad USB attached. I just got the adapter/face plate in for it and installed and snapped a picture. Attachment 49737 I have the Slim DVD-RW and the IDE "boot" CF card in the 5.25" bay, below that I picked up a multi-device USB 2.0 reader, and below that I have the floppy drive. The SSD drive is still looking for a place to be mounted and I have to do a lot of cable cleanup/routing before putting the case together. In the multi-device USB 2.0 reader I have another CF card and a USB stick being mounted with Poseidon. Interestingly...the CF Card was prepped as RDB under WinUAE and it mounted it as the UDH0: drive it was configured as. After taking the picture I plugged in a Micro-SD card in as well...so I had the CF card, the USB stick and the Micro-SD all mounted on my Workbench. Eh...here's my Workbench (1024x768 - HighGFX and Indivision AGA) Attachment 49738 SystemOS is the boot IDE cf card reader System is the CF card in the USB reader (since I was using it in WinUAE) Files is the Micro-SD in the USB reader PICS is the USB stick in the USB reader NAS1 is one of my NAS device's drives The others are on the SSD drive. I think it looks pretty sweet so far. I need to retro-bright the front bezel, it's pretty yellow (and not in the picture). |

And I've picked up an A4000T (Escom) and started transferring some of the pieces over from the A4000D to the A4000T.
Attachment 50104Attachment 50105 I had a 5.25" bay that holds a 3.5" device not being used, so put the USB 2.0 Multi-card reader in it. Not sure this will stay, I may replace it with a standard 3.5" to 5.25" adapter that centers the 3.5" device since the 2 side USB ports aren't connected internally. |

Since I was missing a few pieces with my A4000D I found some .stl files online and had a coworker print them out for me. Hard drive mounting brackets and the larger front 3.5" bezel cover.
Attachment 50304 Not that I need the front bezel piece but nice to have. Definitely wanted the HD brackets though.. |
I made a pair of A4000 HD mounting brackets out of a pot noodle container :-) Any thick plastic will do!

I now want a 3d printer myself.... |
Replaced the tray-load DVD-RW drive with a Slot-Load DVD-RW drive. I didn't care for the thin slide out tray on the tray-load drive and thought this would look better.

Do you have the part number or make/model of your Slim CD Drive bay?
I tried a couple, one was this which I painted white: https://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-T.../dp/B007C1KPQY I put a slot load DVD with a SCSI converter and an SSD in it but in retrospect I'd prefer having a faster CF be external there. And the Silver USB 2.0 version of this: https://www.amazon.com/Syba-Adapter-.../dp/B0081IOSOW I like yours better. |
I got the bracket and the CF Card reader from Amazon. The front piece of the bracket is detachable (break off) so it either stays on to cover a driver or nothing or you break it off if you have something with external facings (cf card reader, floppy drive, USB hub, etc..).
Bracket: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 CF Card Reader: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And this slim IDE to 40pin IDE adapter allowed me to set the drive as Master or Slave, so the CF Card is Master (it has Master/Slave jumpers too) and the DVD is Slave on the internal IDE controller. Adapter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PA-CD1-JP-3-...19.m1438.l2649 |
Great setup! I have a similar setup, running nice in AOS3.9, but somehow AmigaOS4.1 FE Classic doesn't recognise the CDROM on the secondary IDE cable :(
