Amiga Game Development Contest - Judgment Day

5 playable games were finally submitted as entries for the contest (not all are fully finished).

Now it's time for us judges to playtest them and then come together to give our votes.

Here are the five games ready for download:

UPDATE: The judges will send their votes (a score between 1-10) for every game and their impressions via e-mail to the other judges by March 31st 23:59.

The winners will be publicly announced on April 14th 23:59 incl. reviews for each game.

Nice :D I can see this being a battle between AMIner and Rygar AGA! The others are decent too though :)

DamienD 02 March 2019 11:45

Good work john4p :great

I'm testing a bug fix for a compatibility issue and updating the archive at amigageek.com.

If you'd like to judge the deadline version of ModSurfer instead please use this link: http://amigageek.com/modsurfer/modsurfer1.0.lha

mcgeezer 02 March 2019 17:41

Indeed I've also fixed some bugs to do with the controls in Rygar on real Amiga's (some Amiga's worked, some didn't when pressing the Jump button).

If you want to evaluate the new version then it is here.

Happy to have the original evaluated if the rules apply.

Geezer

Havie 02 March 2019 18:59

Maybe we need a ruling on bug fixed versions as I have left my game alone so as not to confuse matters but happy to upload a bug fixed version if that's acceptable?

mcgeezer 02 March 2019 19:02

I really dont mind. I’m out on the drink tonight so wont be fixing anything this weekend apart from my sore head.

Havie 02 March 2019 19:22

I suppose if we all have a few bugs that maybe stop the enjoyment of our games then there is no harm in it - if so then we just need an acceptable bug fixing deadline i.e. Monday?

spud 02 March 2019 22:04

How about a bug fixing deadline of August 2019 then? I can submit mine by then I'm sure.

john4p 03 March 2019 10:25

:lol :great

Yeah I think we should use the versions provided by February 28th.

jojo073 03 March 2019 10:26

....

Havie 03 March 2019 11:31

No problems with that at all just trying to avoid any confusion?

I was talking with AlphaOne some time ago, he mentioned that coding was done, but he was waiting for assets

Well there's a playable demo of a blob moving around an infinitely scrolling background but that's as far as I got. Feel free to judge it but I can't see it winning anything except scorn!

My experiments in Blitz2 for XILEF turned into "Father Christmas versus Dinosaurs" which I released at Christmas. I didn't get any further with XILEF though as I realised I'd written bollocks and would have to start again.

I'll keep plodding on with it in my spare time but spare time is very limited!

After good progress with the prototype I ran into lots of problems to get the game to work on A500 in the speed I wanted to in the language I chose.
Hence, I ended up not completing it for now. I might look into actually using C and rewriting it from scratch one day, however.
