Overheard AMIGA!

So I was just entering the gym the other day and I couldn't help overhearing a conversation at the main desk about boxed consoles. Some guy was running through a giant list and said he had every console ever made.. Boxed....

A pretty large claim!!

Anyway just as I realised what he was talking about he said AMIGA!

I just walked upto the counter and said "I'm glad you said Amiga!" and went on my way.

Wish I had asked if he had a CD32 :crying

So, my question is- Has anyone else just stumbled over a conversation and overheard someone mention our beloved machine?

At my work (with kids) some parent said 'Lotus' when he saw Top Gear 2 for MegaDrive/SNES.

Sure, in Portugal "Amiga" is a real word (female friend) so i listen "Amiga" many times. So i need to listen a bit to understand witch "Amiga" are people talking about... almost everytime is about some friend and not the miggy. But i remember one time 2 adults (not kids) being in the train and to chat about Amigas, the good old times. It put a smile on my face.

ha, the twitter hashtag #Amiga is a minefield.

When I was an undergraduate design student a THOUSAND years ago we had this german web design instructor that used to talk about genlocks and capabilities of amiga occasionally (which was a dead machine even then) but I didn't want to expose my geekiness about the subject back then so I allowed him to feel redundant and old all alone :D

Must be an international thing (edit :)

I've never heard anyone here in Australia...

Hewitson 10 March 2013 16:20

Sadly it's very rare to encounter someone who knows what an Amiga is in Australia. Everyone knows about the Commodore 64 though.

Well, this was not listening, was view.
A young girl with nice tits in line at the supermarket with a shirt that put the classic logo AMIGA-big. That was only two years ago.

tesla 10 March 2013 19:36

huh?

And she is your girlfriend now?

No friend, I have not see this girl more, I was somewhat removed from the queue. He was very young, my attention, is likely to be the shirt of an older sibling or parent.

Removed? You stared too long pervert! :D

vitux 13 March 2013 14:42

...You know it's the google translator
perverted to say tits?
maybe you are too puritanical

Bamiga2002 13 March 2013 14:52

Ahh I was joking there (or was I?) :). Rest assured google translate isn't always so accurate now is it? ;)

Gordon 13 March 2013 15:13

No need to translate tits, just put (.)(.)

jimbob 13 March 2013 18:22

:lolI'll try to improve that translation a bit -

"Nah mate, I was in a different queue, besides, I'm old enough to be her father"

The joke is a pun on "removed". ie. slightly old fashioned English usage to say "at some distance removed" or more usual meaning "forcibly removed by someone in authority position" Is it perverted to say tits, of course not, staring at young check out girls, maybe a bit:lol

vitux 13 March 2013 20:07

Removed=bad translation
Something away? ok translation?

Resembled something like this, but put AMIGA
http://img547.imageshack.us/img547/8...deogamecon.jpg
in any case, I was committed.

Jimbob, No, I said the shirt was probably his father or older brother because she was too young to know what a AMIGA.
does not mean that had 15 years, probably about 20
Eh, I am not so old, only a few years older than you
I remember that besides the tits shirt, put AMIG, logically, I look. Also, I have eyes and I must look to somewhere.

Gordon, (.) (.) :)
By the way Gordon, you is who sold me to the controler Alfa Power for A500?

jimbob 13 March 2013 20:43

Yep, I guess you have to put your hands somewhere too eh:laughing

The translation "somewhat removed" is actually fine, just a slightly unusual way of saying it and, due to the subject matter, invited the joke from Bamiga.

Are "he" and "she" the same word in Spanish? Google is giving you "he" where it should be "she" if you are talking about a female.

Ok, what you say.

vitux 14 March 2013 18:51

jimbob, Yes, google translated "he" in "she" It is according to you put accent or not Spanish grammar, google is confused or not.
Corrected.
Clearly the British forums are not for me. Maybe I should go.
