Convert ADF to DMS

Hi,

Anyone that knows how to "batch" convert many ADF files to original DMS´s?

If you know any tools or a way to do it with xDMS, please tell me.

Or even better, a tool that can extract file_id.diz to a text file from ADF.

Don't do it! Seriously, some compression modes of DMS have bugs which corrupt the data. You're far better off using ADFs, zipped ADFs or GZipped ADFs.

I would also doubt you will find file_id.diz files in (many) ADFs anyway, as they only existed in archives like lha/lzx/dms during the BBS days. Now that the disks have been expanded to ADFs, say goodbye to the file_id.diz files.

Codetapper's quite right. It is more common to see requests about solutions for converting disk images from DMS to ADF, which can be troublesome fot the reasons Codetapper stated.

i have already converter all my DMS to ADF. Thing is that i have about 6000 DMS´s that is not in tosec. So my idea was that i would let a file_id.diz tool create a list. I mean, even if it only would find 500, it would help me a lot.

Cant anyone of you amiga gurus create a tool that looks for file_id.diz in ADF files =)

You can use Windows Explorer to search files for the occurrence of the strings "file_id.diz", "File_ID.diz", "FILE_ID.DIZ", etc. in all your ADF files.

If the file exists - even a deleted file - in any of your ADF files. then the files which contain the file searched for will be listed for you.

This is because the filename will be present in the disk image in the file header block for every instance of that file.

Thanks for the input.

Then we only need to get them all into a text file so that they can become a descent filelist.

In DOS.... Dir /s>ADFfiles.txt will do the trick for you.

The /s parameter, will grab all file names in any subdir. ;)

Im not intressted in creating a DIR list.. I wanna extract the file_id.diz to a nice "bbs" list.
