Skidmarks 20th Anniversary edition

Chris Blackbourn (formerly of Acid and Bioware) was at the Auckland Game Developer's meetup tonight showing the work in progress version of Skidmarks 20th Anniversary Edition.

(Apologies for the bad quality photo)

Car physics feel just like they did, currently the background is still pre-rendered but the cars are rendered in real time. He had dozens of AI cars racing around at the same time and like the original it looks like it'll be geared for very social play - joypads, keyboards and even smart phones were all used as controllers.

I don't know any more about it at this stage sorry, hadn't seen it before tonight!

Excellent !!! but will be available only on PC or Amiga ?

Peter 05 November 2014 12:45

I would love to see this released!!

Shoonay 05 November 2014 12:56

Predseda 05 November 2014 12:58

Isn't interesting unless Amiga.

Great ! I had so much fun with this game, countless hours.... My guess is PC, but hey, this is normal nowadays, i bet the slowest PC could play this without problems.

Now that is cool.

The whole track on one screen? Reminds me more to Super Sprint this way, tbh.

True, but SS is a good game too, ;).

Neil79 05 November 2014 15:31

Earok can you pm me any more details or is it under NDA?

earok 05 November 2014 20:52

I think he's intending to release it cross platform but I'd say it's unlikely he'd do an OS 4 release.
(Edit: I'll ask him anyway though!)

@Neil I've posted pretty much everything I know right here but I'd recommend getting in touch with Chris directly regarding the project - http://www.modkagames.com/#contact

It sure is... though I have the Spectrum version :D

The new version of Skidmarks looks great too.

I can't believe people wanting an Amiga version or hating on this because there isn't one... Get a reality check, it's 2014, wake up to life.

Skidmarks was a great game and this new version looks really promising, really looking forward to try it out!!

Your right. But this is an amiga forum board so you'd expect comments like that. Devs will make games as to where the marketplace is. And at the moment is all mobile.

People actually pay for mobile games?

s2325 06 November 2014 10:00

I think now it's more like Rally Cross Challenge http://hol.abime.net/1194

stainy 06 November 2014 14:29

I loved Rally Cross. Bugged to buggery though..

I thought it was all Steam these days, and after a month or two it's on to Bundle sites (IE Humble Bundle)
