This is absolute crap, plenty of good games came out. ROTR being good is the funniest thing I've ever heard!

Two of my all-time fav amiga games were from '89 - Battle Chess and North & South. :) ...Shufflepuck Cafe and Stunt Car Racer also rocked.

Dynamite Dux, Rainbow Islands and the Ninja Warriors were pretty solid arcade conversions from 89 which I also really enjoyed.

Good times

deicidal 29 March 2011 11:01

Stunt Car Racer
Rick Dangerouse
Blood Money
Batman
Barbarian
North & South (great 2 player memories on that one)

pubzombie 10 April 2011 13:49

for actual time spent playing it must be -
Speedball
&
North&South - yeh, I remember playing this 2 player with my bro for hours.
still a good giggle today too

Minuous is on cloud cuckoo land. Rise of the Robots and Primal Rage are dogshit :D

My votes go to...

1988 - Sidewinder
1989 - Rainbow Islands

mihcael 11 April 2011 11:37

I didnt have an amiga in these years, so Im not biased my memories of better times. Probably only 2 games ive played from 88. Played a couple from 89 when i was in primary school (Sim City and Carmen San Diego). I spose all those crap games eventually lea to some decent stuff down the line.

88 - IK+
89 - Xenon2

spyros_s 12 April 2011 10:36

88: ik+ of course! I still play sometimes and i always win black belt! :)
89: Batman the movie! The batmania was so big this year so when the game was released i played it in every format available(zx spectrum and cpc that days...amiga a little time later)! I loved that game!

Obliterator 26 April 2011 18:54

I cant do just one i had loads in 88-89 like Insanity Fight, Future Tank ,Mouse Trap and IK+ but i must say i played Obliterator to death

Dastardly 26 April 2011 19:46

Rainbow Islands.

tuki_cat 26 April 2011 22:50

88' - Hostages
89' - Elite

When I'm not playing the above two games I am nearly always playing Rise of the Robots ;)

gehtjanx 26 April 2011 23:35

88

Graham Humphrey 27 April 2011 11:35

Funny but I always thought Rainbow Islands was released in 1990?

TCD 27 April 2011 11:38

Some reviews are from 1989 : http://hol.abime.net/1191/review
It's also on the box (original arcade is from 1987).

Retro-Nerd 27 April 2011 11:45

Mmh, probably not released before January/February 1990.

humble worm 27 April 2011 12:15

1988 - Wizball. Now I know that first it was made for 8 bit machines but cannot recall any 'typical' Amiga game released in 88 I liked

1989 - North and South, TwinWorld

years 90 & 91 were the shit! :)

onkelarie 27 April 2011 13:08

88 hybris (and all time fav as well)
89 rick dangerous

Really 1989? Maybe the US release.

It does say 1989 on HOL, so that's what I've always assumed myself.

Great Giana Sisters,

Stunt Car racer, I ran a 60 foot cable between mine and my mate next door but 1 so we could play against each other, good fun :)

There were a lot of good games in those 2 years, sometimes it was hard to actually decide what to play as i couldn't make up my mind half the time while flipping through the disc caddy
