Games supporting MT-32: do they also use standard audio simultaneously?

Planning to try out the MT-32 with KQ5 and other whdload games supporting MT-32. Do I need to "mix down" both MT-32 and the standard audio, or is the it only MT-32 that will then handle FX also?

Any clues?

MT32 also issues sfx for all games I've seen. I can't tell because I'm using winuae, but the sounds are clearly high-definition and different from the standard ones.

Just try a game with and without MT32 and compare sfx you'll see

I have a hardware MT32 hooked up to a PC computer running Windows and in my experience not all sounds are emulated. I use a mixer to combine the channels. It works really well FWIW :) Let me know if you'd like a recommendation for a decent mixer.

For the record, the mixer I use is this: https://www.amazon.com/Maker-Hart-LO...77247551&psc=1

It works perfectly. I highly recommend it. :)

nothing prevents from playing MT32 and native sounds at the same time. It's just that I don't think that Sierra games do that. And since they're about the only ones supporting MT32 ...

Yes that's true of the 'classic' games but lots of the newer ports support native MIDI output through CAMD including Ultima 7 and Dune 2 and just about any point and click adventure worth playing thanks to ScummVM AGA.

:p

Thanks, I'll have to find something similar indeed :)

Ok, unfortunately I only have an A600, so no AGA here. I'm, kinda s stranger to the ScummVM, we'll have to familiarize myself with that also.
