Simple question regarding notepad and ram..
Forgive me, I'm a newbie with more excitement than insight since obtaining an Amiga 500 with 0.5mb ram and just the internal floppy drive.
All I want to do is some word processing and save to disk. I can open notepad within workbench, but when I come to save, it says my disk is full. If I bought better word processing software would I still run into this problem, or would i have the option to insert a floppy to save to? Surely I dont have to buy a secondary external floppy drive to save notepad documents right? Thanks! |
Your floppy disk may be write protected by small plastic square. Do not use WorkBench disks to save.

The WB disk may not have enough free space for your save. Use a blank formatted disk for saving and not, as s2325 says, the Workbench disk.

Thanks for your response
Are you implying that I should be able to save to a blank floppy disk from what I wrote in notepad, because when I attempt that, it just prompts me to put the workbench disk back in. |
You could save to RAM:
Swap Disk and copy the file to a new disk. Or Save to Text:filename Where Text is the name of an empty disk and filename is your doc... |
Yahtzee!! Thanks Nobby
That was the concise vital info I was missing |
