Light or Dark?
Guys (Bobredthorp esp..)
I have been thinking about the Menus in use so-far, and Bob has done a great job but... The DVD is generally dark (The other menus) so I am thinking maybe these bright menus wont fit in! So Here is an Image with the Brigh and Dark images, select which you prefer in the poll :) Bob: I'll talk to you on IRC soon :) |

Whoops.. the image!

I think it really depends. If a company logo is particularly dark, a bright background will make it stand out more. Similarly if the logo is very bright, it looks better on a dark background.
Both pictures look great and it just depends which one is easier to read for each logo that you have. |
For the ones you've shown, I prefer the dark versions...
Yeah, has to be the dark ones. The light ones just look washed out rather than light.
My votes for darker.
me too
You're all miserable introverts, going for dark! ;)
I vote for light. The dark ones look like the brightness is set too low on the TV. |
I like things illuminated so my vote is for the light pictures. :)
Bright!
...and my vote goes to Darker!

I think that compression artifacting would also be more apparent on lighter pictures. At least in the 2 samples it is. |

there is no artefacting on the real things!!! |

You are no match to the power of the dark side!

Without darkening, here are the original source files with the white layer removed, do you think they look better like this?
Yes
If they're going to be menu backgrounds? then the bright colours might make any text hard to read...
Yeah, thats why I came up with the idea to make them bright, but whatever you guys think is best is the way we should go? :nervous
I personally find reading stuff more enjoyable when being presented on a darker background... but just try out how it looks and then decide which is better. We'll see how it works out...
